Introduction: Hey! My name's Tommy Streat. I provide basic obedience training and behavior modification services for dogs in Fairfax County and Arlington County, Virginia. I'm licensed and insured, and I'm a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. I've had mixed breeds my whole life and I grew up breeding Labrador Retrievers. We always trained our dogs, and I began rehabilitating dogs with behavioral issues when I was a teenager. I also owned a top rated dog walking, pet sitting, and pet taxi business for 5 years. I spend most of my free time learning as much as I can about dogs. Every dog is unique- so I have many ways of working with any issue, but I never use fear or punishment. My focus is on dog communication and what makes them feel fulfilled. When a dog's needs are fulfilled, then good behavior comes naturally.

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Meeting with a client and their dog(s). Talking about what they need help with. Observing the dog's behavior, and how the owner(s) work with them.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Growing up, my parents bred Labrador Retrievers. My grandparents bred them when my mom was growing up too. Watching mother dogs raise puppies teaches us a lot about how dogs communicate and learn. I rescued a stray with issues off the street when I was a teenager. He was a pit bull. I knew I had a much greater responsibility with him than the dogs I grew up with. They didn't have his issues or his strength. I wanted to be able to take him anywhere. That's how I am with all of my dogs. He was family, and I was completely dedicated to keeping him, and everyone in his life, safe. I started learning, in everyway I could, to help dogs with any issues, and I've never stopped. I also owned a top rated dog walking, pet sitting, and pet taxi business for 5 years.
