When I started with Tempee, I knew a few chords and maybe two old folk rock songssort of. All I wanted to do was learn to play the folk music I wanted to play when I was a kid well over 40 years ago. About a month into lesson, Tempee asked if Id be interested in studying jazz. I said something like, Jazz? Thats hard, isnt it? He somehow convinced me otherwise. Tempee worked within my musical ability, patiently at my own pace. Now, about 18 months later, I am learning what it is to become a musician, which has become more important that just learning a few songs. Ive taken guitar lessons before, but never stuck with it. Tempee makes learning the guitar as enjoyable as it is challenging. Tempee instills confidence. He believes that everyone who wants to learn music can do it. I wont be the next Charlie Byrd, Charlie Christian, Pat Metheny or Joe Pass. Who cares? What matters is how much I enjoy playing and learning thanks to Tempee.
This place has been great since it opened. My daughter takes Guitar lessons at the new shop and really likes her teacher. The facility is nice, clean and small and makes for a very comfortable environment while waiting for the lesson to be completed. As a bonus, when a teacher is sick they are very good at pulling talented and skilled substitutes which has not been our experience at other lessons. My daughter is learning fast and loving the experience.
Diego is a natural teacher with a God-given talent. My daughter has only been taking guitar lessons for 4 1/2 months, but I am amazed by her progress and accomplishments. She learns something new each week and walks out of each lesson with a big smile on her face. He is very kind, encouraging and knowledgeable with a fun and diverse repertoire. I highly recommend Diego.
I wanted to learn to play Ukelele and YouTube wasn't really helping, so I started to get lessons with Luis cause I had seen him playing and saw some of his students playing as well. I was surprised I was playing my first chords in no time. He was so patient and made me believe I could do it and gave me that push to keep trying when I wanted to give up cause my fingers are so small, and I thought I was never gonna be able to get the chords right, but he would encourage me every class and even took the trouble to place my fingers the right way every time. I messed up a lot but he never made me feel bad about it, not even with facial expressions like other teachers do. I really appreciate the effort and interest he puts in every lesson. He's a very talented, experienced musician and a super patient teacher. Would totally recommend. 10/10
I love my ukulele lessons with Alicia! She is an inspiring and kind teacher who has made me not only a better and more confident musician but a better and happier person as well! I highly recommend her and after weekly lessons for three years, I keep coming back for more, simply because she is a wonderful and lovely person.
Erin is a fantastic teacher who has customized my ukulele lessons to my needs and provided great week to week instruction. As an adult with some piano experience but who has never played a string instrument, I have been pleased with the progress I have made using techniques and instruction provided. Each week Erin has provided me with a handout for the week's lesson, songs that are appropriate for my level, and worked with me on new techniques and how to incorporate them into songs that I enjoy. I highly recommend this instructor for learning a string instrument.
Jonathan taught me how to play two stringed instruments: bass guitar and ukulele. He taught me the technical aspects of playing, sych as proper finger position and strumming, as well as aspects of musical theory. After two years, I still play regularly.
Great with kids
I Have been taking lessons from someone else for about 2 years now. Im happy with how I was doing and coming along. However After taking lessons from Jake for 2 months now, I feel like I have made some fast progress. Jake really seems to care about how your doing and the progress your making. You can really tell his love for music , and my girlfriend who plays the flute and piano also took notice to that. He has me playing some songs, learing scales, and bar chords. And wow did that open a whole new door to music. A lesson of 45 minutes to an hour is huge, you dont feel rushed and you have good time to warm up, practice, and learn. The extra time really helps with my focus. Jake is a very good teacher and I highly recommend his lessons. I honestly feel like I have made Great progress and most of all Jake makes learing music fun.
She has been great with my 9 year old.
I have been taking jazz ukulele lessons with Marcy for several years. Through this I have gone from a "3-chords and the truth" first-position fretted instrument player to a fearless "I own the whole neck" player on ukulele and tenor guitar. Even my 6-string playing has seen some benefit. Marcy's calm, positive, delivery has made learning fun and easier than I thought. :-)
