Flute Lessons (for adults)
I have played the flute on and off for many years, mostly self taught. I recently had my old Gemeinhardt rebuilt and decided to get more serious and looked for a teacher who would work with an old guy with a lot of bad habits. Yana was game and we set up a try out lesson. I liked that one of her first questions what my goal was. When I said I wanted to work on my tone she said "great, I really like working on tone" and we got started. She gave me excercises and clear feedback. She's patient and supportive and really works with me. If I don't "get it" on the first try she'll try something else. I can't begin to tell you how much my playing has improved. I'm definitely a Yana fan and heartily recommend her as a teacher. Gary Schoch, Reston, VAJun 24, 2016Verified
My daughter has been working with Yana for nearly two years. Yana brings joy to the lesson without sacrificing quality. She sets goals and makes sure she attains them. She is attentive to details and is persistent with her students. She is patient, flexible, punctual, caring and fun. I love to listen to my daughter play the flute and I know we owe her improvement to Yana's efforts. My daughter looks forward to her lessons. I have listened to Yana play in concerts and she is an amazing musician in her own right.Jan 29, 2015
Flute Lessons (for adults)
If you're reading this, maybe you just decided to learn how to play the flute with absolute zero music experience, during a stage of life when the brain is not as plastic as you'd like. That's me now, and it's a lot of fun! But... before it's too late and bad playing habits become part of you, let Yana teach you. 45 min packed with information that would have been difficult to extract from books and even more difficult to put in practice. Challenging without being overwhelming, those 45 min are much more effective than an extended period of self-teaching. Highly recommended!Oct 25, 2015Verified
Yana Hristova is a wonderful flute teacher. My daughter's playing has improved tremendously since she began studying with Yana. I would highly recommend her for her kind demeanor, excellent performance skills, and expert teaching!Jan 28, 2015

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?First lesson is a trial and is free. After that I recommend 45min lessons. The price is $50 if the student comes to me and $55 if I go to their home. I also teach 30 and 60min lessons.
