Introduction: Handcrafted and artistically designed, each piece of fine silver or gold jewelry tells its own story through line, pattern, shape and texture. Diane uses these and other design elements to create unique, wearable works of art. Her collection includes both ready-made pieces and custom styles designed to reflect the individual.
Dianes jewelry is made from precious metal clay (PMC). It contains fine silver particles in an organic clay binder. PMC has a pliable consistency similar to ceramic clay. In moist form, it can be sculpted, shaped, and imprinted with endless design possibilities. Once fired in a kiln, the clay binder melts away, and the silver particles fuse together to make a solid metal piece that is .999 (99%) fine silver. It has a higher silver content than sterling silver which is .925 (92.5%) silver.
PMC can be polished, brushed or finished with a patina process. Patina emphasizes the details in the piece and adds interesting colors, from golden and coppery tones to blue and grey, to create a vintage look. PMC can also be plated with 14-karat or 18-karat gold, where a layer of gold is fused to fine silver using an electroplating process.
