Introduction: Bay 1 Studios is the ONLY purpose-built rehearsal facility in the Charlottesville area. During the day you can find music instructors teaching everything from beginner guitar to advanced music theory, while during the evening the studio opens its rooms to local bands to use as practice space.
As a musician myself for nearly 20 years, I have always dreamed of providing a service that brought music and people together. When I opened Bay 1 Studios, I was able to provide a place where my musical friends could teach, and my friends who were in bands could have a place to jam... and what could be better than making music with my friends!

My 11 year old son decided he wanted to be a rock star...thus began our search for the perfect guitar teacher. The requirements (according to my son) were: he must be COOL. Enter Rob - coolness personified! Oh, and did I mention that in just a few lessons, my son was not only playing his guitar more often, he was confident about experimenting on his own, and came out of the music room absolutely BEAMING after every lesson. I know that he could not be happier - and therefore I am happy. Rob is a talented professional, with lots of real world experience to share (great stories!), and a terrific teacher on top of all that. LOVE Bay 1 Studios - the location is great, the lesson rooms are great - in fact, this summer I think we are going to add bass lessons too. We couldn't be happier! AND...my daughter is taking piano at Bay 1, and ALSO loves loves loves her teacher - who is now giving my son violin lessons...see a pattern?? If you have interest in an instrument, I'll bet Rob can hook you up with a teacher! :)

Serendipity! Your business opened just when I need it most. Started playing drums with some friends who were much more musically inclined then me. It was either quite my day job and try to get up to speed, or have you and Paul get me up and running. You guys love music, and it shows. Thanks

What can I say? Bay 1 Studio is awesome. After years of lugging heavy gear into cold garages, basements and roughed in warehouses, it's an absolute pleasure to step into a carpeted, comfortable, clean space, plug in my guitar and play. Now a 3 hour rehearsal is a 3 hour rehearsal and not an hour of setup and breakdown with 2 hours of music. Rob the owner is professional and accommodating. As for lessons, I can tell you from personal experience that Bay 1 instructors are top notch.

I have been taking lessons here for half a year and love IT.. Its a great friendly Place with lots of options for every skill level. Rob is a super guy and open to ideas and events to spread the love of music. Open jams? Band practices? Lessions? you name it he'll make it happen.

If you're a musician in the Charlottesville area in need of a professional practice area, Bay 1 is the place to be. Regardless of the type of music you play, the amps, PA, drums (and piano in the green room!) are all top notch equipment. Not to mention - if you need a refresher on your instrument (or a new one...) the lessons are reasonably priced, relaxed and extremely helpful in getting you to the next level!
