FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I recently attended the Virginia Music Teachers' annual conference at Wintergreen, and I am hoping to attend the National Music Teacher's annual conference in March of 2015. I am always researching new technologies and resources and discussing my profession with anyone who will listen!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My sister is nearly 10 years older than me, and I grew up watching her play the piano. She taught me my first songs at the age of 4. My family took me to her piano teacher, who said that she would teach me when I could read English, so I worked hard and started lessons at 4.5 years old. I have always wanted to share the love of piano with all people--it has given me such a release throughout my life--and I was lucky enough to study both music and education at UVa. I am so happy to be in a position in which I can share the thing that I am most passionate about with families across Central Virginia.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I spend a considerable amount of time in the music store and online, looking for examples of music and songs for my students. I love projects, so please don't hesitate to ask about the most obscure or complicated piece! I will do what I can to find whatever songs you like. If it doesn't exist in print, I will sit down and transpose it myself. I want my students to play music that interests them, so no job is too big!
