FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I just started setting pricing this year and it still fluctuates a lot depending on the job. The system I prefer the most is for a client to pitch me a gig and for me to give them a minimum that would make it worth it for me. Usually I promise delivery of a certain number of photos for a low minimum price and then if a client wants extra photos or extra services beyond that, I just charge an additional per-unit type of fee. For instance, I have shot apartments for rent for Landlords at a minimum of $100 for 8 photos, but I often end up shooting galleries of up to 25 finished photos. So some landlords who can afford it have paid me closer to $400 for their gallery.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
All my clients I take on currently I sit down with and have coffee first. Mostly this is because my majority of paid jobs are portraits or headshots, so the shoot will be very personal. However, I prefer having an intake with a client as opposed to just showing up to a site and shooting first thing. In all businesses I have worked in, relationships have been the most important thing to me. I find myself much more successful the more developed a dynamic I have with people.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took four years of film photography in school and have shot for many businesses I have worked for in other capacities: Real Estate Agencies, Restaurants, Event Venues etc.
