My 13 year old son (8th grade) started working with Mr. Pow in February 2015. He's in Pre-Algebra and was really struggling with the concepts. The decision to have him work with Mr. Pow was one of the best decisions I've ever made! My son now has a very strong understanding of Algebra, and its complex processes, and went from struggling and earning low test grades to currently having a B+ in his class! He met with Mr. Pow once a week for 60 - 90 minutes and on occasion we'd do two sessions a week. Mr. Pow took the time to explain the problems in a way that really clicked with my son. He's courteous, patient and really loves Math and that shines through in his work with his students. If you're looking for someone to help your child with Math, then I highly recommend Bill Pow. We'll definitely be working with him again once my son starts High School in the fall.
Jennifer was extremely creative in getting all my experience, education, and skills on a great looking resume. It was quick and painless. She was great.
You can't ask for a better tutor than the one we got. We ended up doing in-home tutoring and the tutor was very kind and courteous and knowledgeable.
Michael did an excellent job of evaluating my daughter's needs and referred us to good tutors, including himself. My daughter is receiving the help she so needs.
Mr. Mougy Ahmed has done wonders as a math tutor for our sophomore son! He has a very agreeable, non-threatening tutoring style, and our son enjoyed working with him right away. Our son was getting D's and C's in Algebra II , even with the assistance of a previous math tutor. Mougy came to our house and immediately recognized where our son was misunderstanding foundational concepts in Algebra II, and worked with him to build up that knowledge base and apply those skills correctly. He has been highly responsive in setting up tutoring sessions, sending additional lessons/exercises via email, and even holding extra sessions in advance of math tests/quizzes. As a direct result of Mougy's tutoring, our son earned a B+ and an A on his last two math tests. We highly recommend him to any student or parent who is searching for tutoring assistance.
Paul Gruber is a wealth of knowledge and insight about the college application process and SAT / ACT testing process. He's patient with his students, has a fun personality which brings a calm manner to what can be a stressful time for students and parents. I highly recommend him for your tutoring and college prep needs.
Prior to tutoring, two things were holding my daughter back on the SAT- the math section and her confidence. Alex was the perfect tutor to improve both of those areas. He provided clear teaching in math that honed in on the areas where she needed the most help. He was consistently positive and encouraging, helping her believe in herself. This led to her math score jumping 180 points.
Excellent math tutor.
Dr. Mukunda was very patient, knowledgeable and accommodating towards my son. I highly recommend her and would use her again if he takes another math class!
"Barbara is an extremely effective math tutor. She relates very well to students and she knows the Algebra material inside and out. Her explanations are very clear and helpful. Besides being 100% reliable, she is also a very nice person. "
Andrea is very prompt with reponding quickly! A dedicated professional who i will continue to seek her services. She is definitely the math tutor you want if math is your weakest subject.
Viven did an excellent job ensuring my daughter understood the fundamentals as it relates to Algebra. He worked diligently with her on pending assignments and always did a thorough and detailed review of prior tests and upcoming exams. Viven helped my daughter secure an A in Algebra when she had never ever seen the material prior to this school year.
I have had tutors for my daughter previously. None have taken any approach as Ms Nancy. She has provided my daughter with ways to solve problems that she can do and her confidence in completing problems has been amazing. Even the teacher is amazed with how my daughter goes about solving problems Ms Nancy has done more for my daughter with school than FCPS has done in 3yrs
I wholeheartedly recommend Neza as a math tutor. She is exceptionally friendly, patient, and adept at explaining difficult concepts to young people in a way that engages them and helps them remember and apply what they learn.
All 4 One Tutoring has excellent tutors. Ms. Harvey was my son's face-to-face tutor for several months. He has improved in school ever since.
Les was a great, positive and an encouraging tutor for my son. He helped my son prepare for the Catholic High School entrance exam (HSPT). He was always positive in explaining how each section would work. He worked with him and encouraged him every tutoring session. I believe with his help my son went into the test well prepared. My son was accepted in all of his schools, Gonzaga and St Johns. My son really enjoyed working with Les. He took him time and he really cared and even checked up on my son after his test to talk about it.

It's not rocket science, but if it was, I'd be able to teach you. That's because I'm an aerospace engineer. If you want to learn from someone who is applying all those math and science classes everyday, then look no further. As an engineer, I have taken many, many math and science courses, and feel more than comfortable teaching the concepts down to the gritty details of almost any course that falls under either of those 2 major subject areas. I can help with any high school math or Physics course. I am also familiar with AP courses, as I took several in high school. I believe that the advantage of being newly out of school is that I am still in a mindset where group study was a focus. This helped with sharing knowledge, especially for homework and preparing for tests.
Hi! I have a bachelor of science in mathematics degree from the University of Texas at Austin and has been working continuously in secondary mathematics in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for nearly 20 years. I've taught pre-algebra, Algebra I Part I, Algebra I, Algebra II, precalculus, trigonometry, math analysis and calculus in Fairfax County Public Schools and in local private schools. Additionally, I have a series of proven successes in tutoring students at all levels and from a diversity of backgrounds, including gifted and talented students (BC Calculus, AP Physics, Thomas Jefferson HS, etc.) and students with learning disabilities (ADD, ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, etc), as well as "just average" kids who've just been lost in the shuffle and enrolled in classes from middle school to high school to college and graduate school classes. I also tutor mathematics for SAT, GRE and GMAT and for LSAT's logic games and logical reasoning sections as well as ASVAB.
We halp students to catch up and keep up!
