Description: Family mediation is a voluntary, confidential process where people in any kind of relationship can negotiate terms between one another with the presence of a neutral, impartial, independent third party called the mediator. By guiding the parties through a formal structure that identifies issues between one another, facilitates communication and focuses on creating mutually agreeable solutions, mediation is fast becoming the primary method of resolving disputes.

Community Services:
Description: NVMS offers mediation and facilitation services to assist the community in resolving issues on many levels. From meeting facilitation to landlord/tenant mediation, our highly trained practitioners act as neutral, third parties helping clients make decisions and resolve conflicts
Types of Community Service:
Community Mediation: Many people who are in a dispute or disagreement are not sure whether they can come to mediation to find resolution. However, the short answer is that almost any
issue can be raised and addressed through mediation. These are just some of the issues we commonly see in a community setting and can be resolved without relying on a judge in court.
Community Facilitation: Homeowners associations and community service groups can benefit from appointing a neutral third party to facilitate meetings, forums, conferences and work groups to ensure productivity and to be seen as fair and effective by all participants.
Training Services:
Description: Northern Virginia Mediation Service provides training opportunities for those looking to become court certified mediators in the state of Virginia, or earn certificates in mediation. Training courses offered provide CME (continuing mediator education) and MCLE (minimum continuing legal education) credits, and certificate programs are offered in federal workplace and family mediation, and organizational development and conflict resolution.
All training and education course instructors have graduate degrees, with most possessing advanced degrees in law, conflict resolution, counseling, or education. The training takes place at our training center, but on-site training is available upon request.
