I am a wine educator and event director; I currently consult for restaurants on their beverage programs and sell wine for a distributor based in Manhattan, Monsieur Touton. I can host private seminars, lectures, interactive classes on all subjects encompassing wine, beer, spirits, and cheese, and the culinary arts.

I have hosted wine dinners, art shows, book-signing events, garden clubs, book clubs, conferences, and more privately and publicly for realtors, the medical profession, business professionals, non-profit organizations, and wine enthusiasts.

My specialty is creating unique events with entertaining themes, of which the sky is the limit. I am a certified sommelier by the Italian Association of Sommeliers with an advanced certificate in the Wine & Spirits Education Trust.

I recently became a French wine scholar through the French Wine Academy and Bordeaux Master. Currently, I am pursuing my master of wine distinction through the MW program at the Washington Wine Academy. Consider me as an educator, consultant, coordinator, and oenophile.

    Christianna is a consummate professional. She makes learning about wine fun and exciting by combining tasting with learning the stories of regions and producers. She goes beyond the technical facts and stats (and she's got those as well!) and brings passion, expansive knowledge, and great positive energy to sharing that knowledge. Highly recommended!

    We hired Tales of a Sommeliers founder Christianna Sargent to conduct a Beaujolais Wine tasting party in our home, in Bethesda the fourth week of November 2014. Beaujolais Nouveau was the beginning and we progressed through the Cru Du Beaujolais throughout the evening. Christianna began the evening with a fun blind sampling of aromas to set the stage for identifying bouquets. She had a charismatic, confident and knowledgeable presentation throughout the evening. No question went unanswered either with facts or humor or both. Christiannas personality made the evening most memorable. Christianna suggested we move from room to room and recommended the excellent recipes for the food parings. She also coordinated the progression order form light to fuller body wines and prepared a professional tasting sheet for each guest. We have received many compliments and requests for Christiannas contacts by our friends. I highly recommend Christianna for ant type of wine event.

    Christianna was a pleasure to meet at an informal wine tasting event at a private home. She was awesome in helping us learn about new wines we were not as familiar with & the added bonus of learning what types of foods to pair with each wine including sparkling wines & chocolate. The food pairings were so much fun & amazing to realize the diverse types of foods that pair well with wine. Super time with other woman who enjoyed an afternoon of education along with friendship & of course delicious food and wine! I would have liked a brief written description of the wine so I could remember for a future purchase perhaps and been able to take notes or make comments by each pairing but overall Christianna's presentation was top notch.

    Over the past few years, my partner and I have taken several classes from Christianna at Red White & Bleu. We really appreciate how thoughtful Christianna is about discussing the history, production, and science that goes into wine making. Christianna is great at setting a fun and casual atmosphere in her classes. She is always eager to receive questions, opinions, or even the most strange tasting notes that come to mind. I've also yet to attend a class of hers that isn't punctuated with laughter. My favorite knowledge and skill in wine tasting came from a class of Christianna's that focused on a wide range of price points. As we went along, I was picking up on an aspect of some of the wines that I couldn't describe well. Christianna helped me discover that it's one of the key factors in assessing a wine's life cycle and age worthiness, and it's unusual to be sensitive to it without training. I'm still impressed that she recognized the rare experiencing I was having despite my own limitations in describing it.

    I attended the National Italian American Foundation convention in DC. Ms. Sargent was one of the lecturers at an Italian wine tasting held at the event. Not only was I impressed with her knowledge for such a young person in her trade, but the event organizers had a bigger crowd than they could handle and it was impressive to see her move from table to table and pitch in and instruct people in a very personal way on the wines. This woman clearly will go places in the wine world and it was a pleasure learning from her encyclopedic knowledge of wines and the regions of Italy that produce them! She is quite the rock star, and clearly cares deeply about her craft.

    I planned a wine tasting party for my girlfriends at my home and asked Christianna if she would come and educate us about lots of reds and whites and bubbly's that I had in stock. She was so very gracious to agree to come. She is extremely knowledgeable about wines. I've had the pleasure of attending classes that she has conducted at a local wine shop over the past three years and have always been impressed with her presentations. She knows what she’s talking about and has a terrific personality, too!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If you're lookiing to do a customized wine tasting, cheese education, etc. Know your budget first. Once I have a figure to worth with I can determine parameters on types of wine, quantity, food pairings, the extent of my services (whether I'm catering, setting up, breaking down) and/or additional staff. Budget provides me with the main framework, it's easy to build themes from there.
