Fence and Gate Repairs
We needed a gate relocated with our chain link fence. He responsed quickly, courteously, and truly cared about making it right for us. He took his time and did it with care. He is very knowledgeable about many types of home repair and maintenance, and has years of experience to bring to your project.Apr 14, 2017Verified

Abandoned project. Dan came and did a visual inspection for two separate projects I had out to bid, a drywall finish and a flooring installation. He priced them separately. I liked him and ended up going with him for both even though he was slightly higher on the drywall price. He gave a start date, then moved it back two days. Then the day he came to start he quit both jobs citing the floor prep was too much work (he’d been on site to give estimate, no changes in floor readiness discussed); he left us without a way to hire someone new in time and now we are at least a week behind schedule which means another week paying for temporary housing since we have no floors and young kids.Jul 6, 2018VerifiedDanrocks Home Services's reply
This client expected to have all work completed in 5 days (including a holiday and a weekend)-- two actual business days after which she stated she would deduct $100 per day. I did request two additional days, however, upon arrival to begin job, discovered the prep work would not allow the job to be completed in such a brief timeline. The client was immediately notified that our company would not be able to complete the job within her timeline.
Danrocks Home Services was hired to redo a damaged portico on our house. Dan was very knowledgeable about the project and did everything that we asked for. He is very cost conscious and made sure that we were kept abreast of every change or detail. We are extremely pleased with the work that was done at our house. We would definitely recommend this company!Dec 18, 2017Danrocks Home Services's reply
Thank you for the kind words Barbara and Bob. I really enjoyed the challenge of this job. - Dan
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I am usually much lower cost than other companies. Having a very good idea of what you want before you even post a request on Thumbtack will get you better quote results.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? Most of my jobs are unique, one-of-a-kind projects. If I send a bid, just text me or call me back or send a message. I try to respond right away. A few things to consider: Know what you want. Its hard to nail down a price if you aren't sure. For example, a chain link fence might be $2500 but a wood and wire fence in the same place might only be $1800. Also, know what accessories you'll need. Another thing, submit separate Thumbtack requests for different jobs. Like, don't combine plumbing and carpentry, or electrical and painting, etc.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I learned from the best, and I am continually keeping up with building trends and materials changes. I was a physics major in college and an electronics technician in the Navy, but I ended up with a major focus on quality control and I guess that makes me a stickler for details.
