Tony was able to meet me at my house the following day after contacting me regarding home improvement projects. He was very helpful and offered fair prices for the projects I needed done in my home. His helpers were able to finish the job in 3 hours. I immediately asked Tony to help me with other projects around my house because I was so impressed with the work that was done and in a timely fashion. He and his crew are hard workers and get the job done right! Would definitely recommend tony and his team for any home improvement projects!
Nick came out to me in Dupont Circle even though it was Labor Day. He was prompt, polite and very professional. He repaired faucets in the kitchen and two bathrooms. He also fixed leaky bathtub and shower heads. Finally he determined where there was a leakage in my dishwasher. I checked his work and the problems were corrected. When we were missing a part, he found an open hardware shop and got there and back in no time. I appreciate his work and would use him again for any plumbing work.
We had a drip on our main line. He came out the next day and fixed the problem so no more worries for us.. And a nice warranty on labor and parts.. I'm going to hold onto his phone number if any other work is needed..
Westly was great - knocked out two ceiling fans in a few hours for a good price. Would use again!
I had a gas fireplace installed two years ago. Another contractor did the basic frame and sheetrock around the fireplace but didn't finish the job. Jenrri met with me in person to assessed the job and give a quote for the work. Jenrri was pleasant and professional and my two Westies both liked him. If they didn't like him I wouldn't have hired him. He said the front area around the firebox would need to have the sheetrock replaced with cement board. I was glad he knew this because not having the right materials could be a fire hazard. After meeting with him. I decided to hire him and planned for him to come Feb. 16-19, 2016 to do this job. He did this job with another worker named Melby. Jenrri and I had to buy materials from the store the first day, but Melby stayed and started working. He removed the sheetrock and also cut boards for the shiplap look I wanted on the upper front and sides of the fireplace. Jenrri and Melby completed cutting and installing about half of the boards the first day. They laid tile on the hearth and around the firebox. I had picked large tiles for the hearth and small tiles to go around the firebox. The small tiles took more time to cut and install. Some of the tile around the firebox doesn't lay completely flat because of the screws for the cement board and because the framing around the firebox wasn't level. If I had to pick again I would have picked larger tiles to go around the firebox. They would have been easier to install and wouldn't have shown that the firebox wasn't completely level. After the tile and boards were installed they painted all the boards and the two walls on each side of the fireplace. Then installed the mantle and touched up the painting. They did a very nice job cleaning up when the work was done and even put furniture and a rug back in place. They also completed the job on time. I am happy with my finished fireplace. It looks beautiful. Both Jenrri and Melby work hard and do a good job. Maybe if Jenrri did the whole project instead of finishing someone else's work it would have been perfect. I would hire him again and I would recommend him to others.
First off: great quality. I don't think I could have asked for a better realization of my plans for my bathroom remodel, which included extensive tile work and construction of a new closet. Pricing was reasonable; they were in the middle of the estimates that I got. That being said, there are a couple of negatives. The schedule was quoted for ten days, but it took sixteen. I did need to take half of one of the days originally scheduled to go into the office to support a client meeting, but a week's extra labor time to finish seemed excessive to me. Especially since after the original two weeks were finished, I had limited flexibility at work and needed to push work off to weekends. All told, with my restrictions at work, it took an extra two weeks beyond what was expected. Part of the problem was punctuality: workers were frequently late, so less got done each day. I also asked to keep a couple of pieces from the demo of the original bathroom that I never got. Overall, I would recommend this contractor if you have a reasonably flexible schedule. They truly do beautiful work, and I'm ultimately very happy with how my bathroom turned out. My designs were executed very nicely. I was just a little disappointed that it took so long.
To quote George Steinbrenner about George on Seinfeld, "Hire This Man". Matt is the best contractor we have worked with. We had a very ugly white tile kitchen floor and Matt came in to provide an estimate. We bought the supplies, which he picked up for us, and he quoted us the labor cost, which was extremely reasonable for 6 days of work. Matt showed up on time each day, even coming over on a Sunday for a few hours. He was very transparent in what he was going to be completing each day and met the objective each time. He is very friendly (even stopping to pet our dogs who bothered him a few times) and personable. He even told us that we still had a few extra items left over and returned them to the store for to get us a refund. I feel like most contractors wouldn't tell you if you have left over supplies, but not him! When he was done with the project, he cleaned up everything, wiping down anything that may have gotten dirty as a result. He is very careful, laying out plastic protectors so dust didn't settle on our counter tops. I normally don't shell out 5 star reviews, but Matt is very deserving. He will be our go to when we get the bathroom floors redone in the near future!
When I say that Robert saved me from another contractors subpar work he really did! He went above and beyond to replace my flooring properly- he removed all of my appliances out of the way and continued working. He patched and fixed my existing cabinets that were incorrect by the subpar previous contractor and charged me a fair rate! He cleaned up each day before he left and even met me at Home Depot since I couldn't fit a baseboard in my car. He's very laid back which is great since I had anxiety and had a trauma story from the old contractor. He offered suggestions and tried his hardest to satisfy my expectations which he has surely surpassed. The engineered floors with the baseboards he installed is perfect I could've cried yesterday; needless to say I will have him back as soon as he can for other jobs in my home. If he chooses your home to work in trust me your in good hands ... Robert worked by himself for most of the project and I commend him for that!
Vicki C, Alexandria: Hired Checkmate to move from my old house to my current one. Great job, great people: - Affordable - Punctual - Professional - Clean cut crew - Hard workers - Friendly -Asked questions -Handled items with care
I initially hired Henry to complete some closet and cabinetry work and changed it to tile work I wanted done in the family room and foyer. He is very skilled and careful in his application. His work product is excellent and he is pleasant to work with. I recommend hiring Henry for various home improvement projects. However be certain to confirm upfront that the price quoted is an all-inclusive price. This will avoid any confusion at project completion regarding material vs. labor costs. Other than this one issue, his service is excellent.
John did a great job with our small project. He gave me a quote that included labor and materials so that I knew exactly what to expect. The bulk of the work was done in one day and he came back the next day to paint. We were pleased with the end result!
Today I had two sky lights resealed and mold inside the house where it had been leaking removed. The worn spots were then replaced and repainted. Very professional job, great workers, accommodating to my tight schedule and finished on time and as estimated. Will be hiring again soon as this was a VERY pleasant experience. 5 STARS ACROSS THE BOARD!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Curtis so far has remodeled one bathroom for me. His crew laid a beautiful checkerboard ceramic tile floor, replaced the vanity, vanity top, mirror, and toilet, and painted and installed all new bars and a light fixture. They are honest, hard-working, and tidy workers. They laid drop cloths on floors to keep them from getting dirty and hauled away all trash. They are great at listening to what the customer wants and fulfilling those requests. They are also punctual. I love the bathroom and cannot wait for them to begin work on remodeling my master bathroom!
I recently had damage to my roof after windstorm Riley, so I called A&A and got Jose on the phone. I told him my issue and he assured me he would come out the next day. As promised, he arrived at the scheduled time and assessed the damage. He gave me a good estimate, fair prices on parts and labor. The work was done timely and with great quality. I am very happy with A&A service and I will definitely call Jose for future home improvements or repairs.
He did a beautiful job on our deck. We are planning on using him for another project. I highly recommend trana construction for any project!
Working with Mr. Pulino has been great. He directed us to subcontractors for special projects and performed some plumbing work for us directly. Everything went smoothly and Mr. Pulino was very responsive.
Mark has done a lot of landscaping and yard work for me including grading, rebuilding a stone walkway, adding rock, building a raised bed, and more. He is an absolute gem, doing high quality work at affordable price. He is pleasant to have around, communicates extremely well, and goes above and beyond to make sure I am pleased with his work. I know he has many talents, and is always fair and professional. Mark is my first stop for anything I need done around the house or yard. He has done a number of jobs for me and all have been five star experiences.
Gave me a great price on tile, demo, and installation. The experience from A to Z was easy, pleasant, and efficient. Laborers did fantastic work and the end product looks great!
It was a tough job and these guys did a great job. I would definitely hire them again.
Melvin was courteous, and professional. It was a good deal
Contacted the business owner based on his business card information. He returned my call promptly and came over to give a free estimate on the work that I needed done. Specifically, I wanted to have built an addition to my already existing fireplace mantel, install a TV bracket and do some wiring. He gave me an estimate on labor and materials and how long it would take to complete. He rewired the cable, added an electrical outlet, rebuilt the framing behind the wall where the TV was going to hang for added support, built and hung the custom framing and crown molding seen in the picture. He also painted the new and old mantel, hung the TV and set it up all in under 16 hours of labor. Amazing!!! He was neat, efficient and didn't waste time or money on unnecessary materials or labor. I would recommend him to anyone in need of home improvements and carpentry projects.
