When you get to your sixties several things become obvious. Most of the stuff you think you know about exercise isn't right and most likely you are actually a wreck. Realizing I was a wreck, Dr. Tammy Robinson at Bull Dawg Training recommended Pilates with Linda Wirtz as a way to slowly get in shape, improve balance and not hurt myself. I tried a session, and it seemed easy at first. But the fast paced series of short exercises really gets to you after an hour. The Reformer apparatus is really important. It actually helps you do the exercises the right way. However even more important is having Linda make sure you don't screw yourself up and good humoredly encourage you. Relentless, incremental progress has made a dazzling difference. Linda has an amazing talent of showing you muscles you never realized you had and that they are important. I couldn't really balance on my left leg after leg surgery, but six months with Linda did what fumbling around for years didn't. I took an introductory class to Reformer Pilates from Jen. She was great at showing us how the machine worked, proper and correct form and how to maximize a workout using it. I would definitely take a class from her again!

I hate gyms, thankfully, I found REV. I've been doing Pilates for quite some time now, but never found a home where I could feel comfortable and still get a great workout. REV has changed that for me. The classes are small so I'm able to get individual attention and work on perfecting my form. And everyone that I've met at REV has been so friendly, it really feels like a family. That is extended to even the instructors who are all so knowledgeable and really take interest in making sure I do the exercises well (no phoning it in allowed). As a neat freak, it's important to me that the space I work out in be clean. Not only is REV a cool space to work out in from a design perspective, but it's super clean and all the machines are wiped down after each class. This all goes to making it a zen experience where I can just focus on me. While I've done Pilates throughout my life, the typical cost from other gyms or private studios prevented me from doing it on a regular basis. REV's monthly membership is a really cost effective plan that works with my budget and allows me to get the most out of all the classes offered at REV. I'm able to take a class a day, and supplement my Pilates mat, reformer and tower classes with TRX, Surfset and even yoga and boy have I seen results. Since joining REV, my body has been transformed, I've found muscles that I never knew I had and it's not just me that has noticed, I've gotten compliments from others on my body transformation as well. Overall I've dropped 10lbs, but what I'm most excited about is how toned I am and how much better I feel.
