FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I regularly attend conferences for Coaching, Education, Bullying, Suicide, Drug Abuse, Gangs Relations, and Family Relations, but have been looking at attending conferences in Technology and Design as well. There have been and are new apps, peripherals, software, and hardware that can be utilized in Coaching greatly.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It was natural. Every since I became a teacher, people always believed that I was "for the kids." I sacrificed myself, time, resources, all in the name of helping my students. I like helping people, and having to teach a subject somewhat gets in the way of doing so. The only way to be able to do that in Education is to become a Guidance Counselor, but with a Master's in Education Administration, I felt it would be better if I went outside of the field and assisted in a different area. That's when I discovered Life Coaching.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most clients want me to give them the answers to their problems, but I try to help them understand that they are the ones that have the answers...I just help pull them out. I usually conduct research for my clients about topics that we discussed from the previous session, and bring it to the table during our next meeting. I also recommend books, articles, and activities that they may find helpful and/or interesting. The greatest task I do for my clients has been ultimately being available to listen and bounce ideas and thoughts off of, without having a biased opinion or judgement.
