It was a pleasure having Ray Baril deal with my repairs. He was friendly, professional, honest, and his fees were extremely reasonable. Mr. Baril fixed a leaky toilet and gave me information about my malfunctioning sump pump which he will work on next week. I certainly recommend him highly!

Highly satisfied with Michael's work installing the new gate in our fence. He was professional and punctual; great communication (very timely email messages which does not always happen with contractors) and "no job too small" attitude. Would highly recommend his services.

With the smell of sewage seeping into my house Paul was able to come to my house within about 30 min of me contacting him. He made quick work of reinstalling my toilet on my newly laid tile flooring with no issues. Toilet is no longer leaking, and the smell of sewage is gone. With the guarantee to return if it leaks again is very assuring. I have no complaints, and if I run into plumbing issues again with the other two bathrooms after laying tile I will most definitely be contacting Paul again.

The water device line sprung a leak in our front yard. The water was turned off to the house so we had no water and were anxious to get it back on. Our regular plumber was booked for days so we went online and discovered Thumbtack. After entering some information about our problem we were contacted within an hour by Atobarnett. They had a plumber to our house that evening as promised even though we were in the middle of a thunder storm. He located the leak and came back early the next morning to fix it. Afterwards he flushed the lines and made sure everything was working before accepting payment. He refilled the hole in the yard cleaned up the mess. We appreciate the good price and that he was knowledgeable, timely, and professional. We will use him again!

Antonio did a great job tearing out my old tub/tile and installing a new tub and surround. He was very affordable and worked with me on my budget. I’ve dealt with a lot of contractors and he was as professional as it gets. His communication about certain aspects about the job made the process go very smoothly. I will absolutely hire him again in the future.

This was my first time using a contractor and I have to say I can not imagine a better outcome! Creative Living did an excellent job remodeling my kitchen. Skip and Mike were very professional and easy to communicate with. They worked around my crazy schedule while remaining prompt and still staying within the estimated timeline. The workmanship is beautiful and exactly how I pictured. I would recommend Creative Living to anyone!

Mr Wynn and his crew came to do work on my deck and water damage to a ceiling. The source of the problem (rubber membrane and drain on the deck) was solved. The ceiling was repaired. They were prompt, came in prepared and did not stop til the job was complete. They were all very courteous and price was reasonable . I will be using their services again here in the near future.

We had two leaks from our tub, at the drain and the overflow. We also had a slow draining drain. Chris Baum answered my Thumbtack inquiry with an estimate from the information I provided on Thumbtack, the same day I made it. We set an appointment time for Chris to either come and look at the problem or repair it. Chris arrived on time and was very professional. Chris looked at the tub, evaluated the problem and as well as the fix and got right to work. Chris was very professional and in approximately one and a half hours, the job was completed, the area was neat and clean and most importantly, the problem was fixed. The job cost me a little more than Chris’s on line estimate, due to parts needed for the repair. We are very satisfied with Chris’s work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
