Introduction: To be told you have "the eye" is, in my opinion, the best compliment a photographer can get - and it's the one I receive the most. I find passion in the joy of those around me, and what's more important to me is making a connection with my client. It's not just about photos. It's about a connection, the emotion...the trust. I can't choose between two: the art and my clients. I don't just shoot the photo and send the product on. I spend my time adding the artistic touches that really bring my vision - and my clients' wishes - to life. And my clients. Oh my clients. I love the stories and the time we spend together laughing and crying. Connections with others...it's a beautiful thing and brings so much joy!

Melissa is super easy to work with. She is flexible and accommodating with scheduling photo shoots. In addition, she really captures the best "natural" shots in beautiful landscapes. Her photos truly seize the "right" moment; I just love her work!

Melissa is extremely easy and fun to work with. She doesn't make you feel awkward (as I do when having my picture taken) and makes me laugh. Her pictures come out beautiful! My kids, who hate to have their pictures take, don't mind having Melissa take their pictures because they don't have to stand still and pose. She has a way of capturing the best moments :-)

Melissa is very passionate and professional about her photography business. My daughter absolutely loved working with her and her very kind and gentle technique. The downtown Roanoke urban scene was perfect for the Valentines Day card sent to friends and family, wishing them Hope, Love and Peace in the New Year. I haven't stopped getting compliments and hand written notes of admiration.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm constantly reading, watching, and on the hunt for inspiration. I participate in live workshops, and I am a member of Professional Photographers of America. I continue my education through PPA as well.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Photography is a passion I stumbled upon. I've always had a deep love for the creative arts. I began my photographic journey in 2010, but didn't decide to take the plunge into my own photography business until 2012. My photography business a very much a job that is driven by passion and my love for the art, rather than it being about "business".
What types of customers have you worked with?
I specialize in weddings and lifestyle photography, particular maternity and newborn. As someone who loves personal connections with the people I meet, my goal is to keep those intimate, trusting relationships as strong as possible.
