Introduction: Unlike music stores which offer lessons on a variety of instruments, Johnson Drum Instruction specializes in drum and percussion instruction. The studio is set up for drum instruction, utilizing two drum sets, mallet percussion instruments, Latin percussion, recording capability, and a practice pad station with mirrored walls for technique analysis. Being able to pass on what I have learned. I have studied extensively both privately and in the classroom. I am able to pass along that mixture if technique and musicianship to aspiring players.

Jeff Johnson has been a great drum teacher for my 7-year-old son. He is very patient and has a system to teach various materials based on several books that are appropriate for my son's level. I found it challenging to keep my son to be focused because he is interested in trying out many different things at this age. However, Jeff has been able to engage him and make the lessons fun. And he teaches more than just drumming. I also appreciate his flexibility in accommodating my schedule change due to business travels. Overall, I would highly recommend Jeff as a drumming instructor.

My son totally enjoyed summer drum lessons with Jeff Johnson. He improved upon his skills and is ready for Band 2 in middle school. Jeff was a pleasure to work with.

We have had a great experience with Jeff. My 7th grader, who decided to try band out, was able to catch up quickly in his MS band class as a result of lessons with Jeff. Jeff is extremely patient and his knowledge is vast.

Jeff is incredibly patient and is an outstanding teacher. I'm especially grateful that he is so great at molding well rounded percussionists. Both of my boys have learned so much for him!

I teach students of all ages and levels - from young beginners to adults preparing for college auditions, cruise ship gigs, etc.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When selecting a teacher, please be sure to compare credentials. Some market themselves as professionals but never studied music at a university or performed professionally. I studied at Capital University Conservatory of Music, Drummers Collective & with jazz legend Joe Morello. I've performed on cruise ships, theme parks & toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. I performed with the vocalists from the Temptations, Drifters and Platters. I'm an author for Alfred Music & Modern Drummer Magazine.
