FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. I have to meet specific continuing education standards set by the National Certifying Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) and Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP). I am also due to graduate with my BA in Contemporary and Alternative Health by December 2014. My next goal is to attain my Reiki Master certification by 2015. In general, I will always be a student because I love learning. Not just about massage, anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, and various holistic health and wellness paradigms, but about life and the greater meaning of it all. I am a philosopher and healer at heart.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It was actually very synchronistic. I was laid-off of my job in the early stages of the 2008 Economic Crisis and didn't know what to do next. A "random" conversation with a friend on Edgar Cayce led me to discovering the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E. founded by Cayce), which was just down the street from me. Digging a little deeper, I found the Cayce/Reilly School of Massotherapy and two weeks later, started classes in their 700 hour massage therapy program. The rest has been a journey deeper into holism and holistic health methods, but it was all beginning to manifest at Cayce/Reilly.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most clients I've had seem to hold most of their "stuff" in the neck, shoulders, and low back. However, I've worked with people with all kinds aches, pains, and imbalances and there's not an area of the body I'm uncomfortable working on. I have the highest confidence in my abilities and knowledge, and if I don't know, I'm not afraid to look up an answer or do further research.
