Adella has been our piano teacher for 2 of our children since they started taking piano lessons 3+ years ago. My children are 3 years apart and have very different personalities, temperaments, and learning styles. Adella has adapted to meet each of their needs and make sure that both are getting the instruction they need, yet by also making it an enjoyable (and fun!) experience. It is very convenient for us that she comes to our house to provide the lessons, and has become like part of our family. Even my child that is too young to take lessons yet, runs to greet Adella upon her arrival each week. Each spring, Adella coordinates a recital which my children look forward to. I highly recommend Adella and continue to be impressed with the progress both of my children have made under her direction.

Both of my children took lessons from Adella. When one child wanted to learn jazz piano to be able to play with her school jazz ensemble, Adella quickly switched gears and helped make that happen. My other child took voice lessons from Adella for two reasons: 1. to help be a better singer for school ensembles. 2. to prepare for college auditions. My child was accepted into one of the best public university music programs in the country. While this second accomplishment was due in part to the voice quality of my child, Adella is the one who taught her the skills, the repetoire and the process for auditioning. She even accompanied us to the auditions to play for the auditions. Adella became a member of our family. She is gifted, talented and truly understands how the young mind (age 6 - 18) learns and how the young instrument should be properly trained, educated, challenged at all the right levels in order to excel and, most importantly, enjoy music for a lifetime.

It is mystifying to realize that one is now a rising Senior Bio Med Engineering Student and the second, a rising Junior Voice Major in College. It gratifies me that both young women are products of music study, and that I had a small hand in pointing them to something they love.

My girls have had three piano teachers and Adella is by far the best. Her experience and musicianship have made all the difference in my daughters' learning. And she is not about just getting the notes right - it is about tempo, dynamics, theory, the composer's background and intent. She takes the time to really perfect a piece. And she allows the kids to have a choice in what music to play. It is also a bonus that she comes to our home.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Monthly tuition fee is paid by check/cash, in advance of the teaching, not one lesson at a time. Lessons missed are completed. on a case by case basis. No student should come for a lesson if they are ill; please give notice in the morning of the lesson. Family rate for 2 students in 1 family: 45 minute lesson each @ $40 for first and $30 for second (Monthly: $280) 60 minute lesson each @ $50 for first and $40 for second (Monthly: $360)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
14 years of private Piano study, 6 years of private Violin study, 4 years of participation in a High School Symphony Orchestra, 8 years private study in Organ Performance, 4 years private study in Voice plus Undergraduate Degree in Music Education and Organ Performance.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
One thing would just lead to another. At first it was just the beauty of doing great music and performing well; recognition led to work offers in School programs, Sacred Music in churches, leadership as a director of church music....choral, instrumental (choirs/ensembles), handbells (a separate learning in itself), orchestral accompaniments, etc.
