"Alan was locally contracted; only lives a couple of neighborhoods over. Alan looked over the house very closely and took his time to really explain and answer all my questions/concerns. I could have very easily been mislead if it weren't for his complete honesty. I thought I had major structural issues. Turned out I had a dip in the floor caused by a structurally sound, but not straight floor joist. All the other foundation/settling speculations like interior doors not closing right, he explained were because my doors are cheapest builder grade and warp over time due to humidity. The house is 23 years old. He combed the house inside and out. During his inspection, unrelated, he even identified one loose duct that needed to be reconnected that channels heat to the second floor. I moved in late this summer, so I haven't had time to identify all the quarks of my house, but quickly repaired the connection with duct tape and a couple of gutter screws. Alan again did a great job explaining how my house was built and what he was looking for. Since I did not need any repairs, there were no charges. I tried to tip him enough for a nice lunch, but he politely said he was going home for lunch (less than a mile or two away) before his next job that day."
