My husband and I are not good dancers, but we wanted to give it a try with private dance lessons. Cindy Norge of Country Bootleggers Dance Studio is our instructor, and she is awesome. She is very patient in explaining and demonstrating the steps and has a way of correcting your mistakes without making you feel foolish. She has a wonderful, upbeat personality that makes the hour with her fly by. We always leave the lesson smiling and laughing and having learned something new. We highly recommend her.
We have been dancing socially and taking classes and lessons off and on for about 30 years, but not until we met Amy Hontos at Dancemasters Ballroom did we really learn to dance. She is the best teacher we've ever experienced. Her group classes give us a good foundation of the characteristics of a particular dance. In private lessons we learn how to be the best we can be and the dance socials give us an opportunity to practice what we have learned in a stress free environment with like minded people. Amy has given us more than just "the moves". She has taught us to be better leaders and followers, she has given us back the joy of being together as a couple. She has uncovered all the good things in us that were cluttered up by raising a family etc. We have also gained the friendship of a new circle of amazing people. We love dancing, we love Amy Hontos, and we love ourselves again. Dancemasters Ballroom is the best thing that ever happened to us.
Loved the listening to what I was looking for (in choreography), the assimilation of all of the pieces (the types of dances and sings I wanted included) and the outcome of choreography and instruction. Marilyn did it all! No where better to go, ... when I want what works best for me!
My husband had always wanted to take ballroom dance lessons. One day while shopping in City Center, he walked into Amys Dance Studio and inquired about lessons. Amy discussed the health and social benefits of learning to dance and offered my husband a free lesson. My husband was thrilled and gladly accepted the offer. The hard part however, was how to convince me to take the dance lesson with him. Reluctantly, I agreed and to my amazement, we learned the basic steps to the swing in 30 minutes! The lesson was so fun and we couldnt wait to take more lessons. There are so many things I love about Amys Dance Studio. To name a few, Amy is very patient and I chuckle over how she handles my husband, who is free-spirited and wants to learn everything now. Sometimes he gets ahead of himself and Amy has to literally pull him back in line; she does it in such a fun way. I have my problems too; sometimes I ask too many questions but Amy reassures me by saying, too much analysis causes paralysis. She never misses anything and sometimes my husband and I joke that she has surround vision. She sees everything, she is so helpful, and her love for dancing shows greatly. For Amy, its not just a job, its a true love and joy. Also, I admire that Rita, Amys daughter has literally followed in her mothers footsteps. She has been dancing since the age of three and now at age sixteen, dances like a professional. Rita is very knowledgeable of so many dances and often demonstrates new dances with her mother. Another added attraction is the Friday night socials. Rita often leads the line dances during this time. Another valuable asset to Amys dance studio is Chelsea, who is a student at CNU. She is majoring in theatre and dance, works at the studio, and loves it. Chelsea welcomes all newcomers with exuberant joy and excitement; on Friday nights, she invites the newcomers to dance with her so they may become comfortable and more familiar with ballroom dancing. Chelsea is very dedicated and is available to assist at all times. As an added attraction, there is Matt, a student at Amys Studio. Matt loves to practice dancing and has progressed to advanced levels in most dances. So ladies get ready Matt may ask you to dance! If you are new in the studio, dont be shy because Matt will help and guide you on the dance floor during open dance. Matt is very encouraging and If you happen to step on his foot, its ok Ive done it several times. Lastly, the dance studio host parties on most holidays which are fun and enjoyable. Also, there are other informative social events such as wine tasting with different wines and cheeses from around the world. I would definitely recommend trying the group classes or private lessons. Hey, what do you have to lose except two left feet? Jackie, Hampton, VA

I have been teaching dance for almost 20 years. I really love what I do. I decided to branch out on my own several years ago, as I was not happy with the way that dance studios were doing business. I provide private and one-on-one lessons, so that the couple can concentrate on what they need to know about lead-and-follow. I make dancing fun and you can learn, you just need to be shown. It is such a great way for couples to become closer, have fun together and enjoy exercising without even knowing it. Believe me, you won't regret it !
Our students share the stories of Celtic culture through the study of highland dance, while embracing modern and traditional music and history. Students learn about the culture and stories of the traditional dances, and new dances are created to help modernize and shake things up a bit. Classes for all ages are offered. There is a Celtic aerobic class offered twice a week called Kilkix. It blends simple Celtic movement with upbeat modern Celtic music. Come laugh, move and leap with us through the stories of the Celts.
