Great experience with Smithson Music. Alvin did a wonderful job getting my long-unused and untuned piano back to sounding wonderful. The price was exceptionally good and we will absolutely use Smithson Music going forward. Couldn't be more pleased.

Tona is a fantastic music teacher!! She kept my highly energetic 4.5 year old engaged throughout the entire first lesson. Approximately 1.5 hours after the lesson my daughter asked, "When is Miss Tona coming again?" My husband and I are so happy to see our daughter excited to learn piano. Tona has a wonderful ability to conduct a structured lesson while also making it quite enjoyable for young children. If you are looking for an amazing music teacher, call Tona!

My lesson with Don, who's very amicable and respectful of the student's desires, was a good experience. His approach with drumming students is based more in music theory and from the perspective of the other band members (vocalist, guitarist, etc.), so he advocates for a strong base in fundamental beats, staying in rhythm, and understanding how to sync up with other members of a band. Not previously having this perspective, his insight was valuable and I've taken some of the things he's mentioned to heart. For me, the material was pretty easy to pick up since I have some experience both with the drums and piano, but other students may initially fumble with his quick pace - don't let that discourage you though, I believe that even a true beginner could get used to the pace within a few lessons. If your desire is to start gigging, he's very adamant about getting you on a fast track towards doing just that. If you're willing to put in the effort I believe that he speaks earnestly and you'll soon be gigging. Overall I recommend him if you're looking for a good, well-rounded intro.

Morgan is a great guitar teacher. I have taken lessons off and on since 1972. That's a long time. Each time the teacher would show me some dreaded "music theory". I always resisted and just went to "show me the chords...show me the licks." Guess what? Morgan got through to my hard head after all these years. His method of showing theory is reasonable and logical and I FINALLY got it!! Hooray! The benefits of understanding the WHY behind the guitar and not just the HOW are ENORMUS. I Highly recommend Morgan.

I have been taking voice lessons from Barbara for over a year now. She has helped me improve my control, help my transition points and taught me how to sing at almost any volume level without pain and in several different styles. While I am not a professional singer, I think she can help almost anyone improve the quality of their voice for long term use. The lessons are also thoroughly enjoyable and I plan on continuing my music education with Bodhran lessons. I highly recommend Barbara as a teacher!

I got my first guitar last Christmas (at 52!) and thought I'd take a couple of lessons to get started. I saw Bill's ad, liked what he had written (though I have to say I was a little skeptical) but thought, probably no harm in taking a couple lessons and then doing the rest on my own with free YouTube videos. Well, here I am, almost one year and 52 lessons later, playing guitar like I never dreamed possible! And no YouTube in sight. Nothing but Bill Twilde's exceptional guitar teaching and mentoring. You know, you come across true teachers like this once, maybe twice in your life. I wasn't even sure I could form a single chord with my fingers. But because of Bill's gentle, intuitive guidance, I learned I can do more than I ever thought possible! Ok, I guess I'm gushing now but it's kind of hard to stop. He's really that good. Go see him play out somewhere in the meantime, and imagine taking lessons from someone who is also that great a performer. Been an awesome experience for me and can hardly wait to start year two!

I attended my best friends wedding last September and was blown away by Xen Live's production, that we booked them for my sister's wedding this past January! Working with Xen Live was effortless. I emailed them and Jay ( the owner of XL) got back to me the same day. The consultation was thorough. I told him we wanted music from the 60's 70's and 90's. When we arrived at the venue to do some last final touches, XL was already set up and ready to go! Phew! One less thing we had to worry about on the special day. We had a few songs specifically requested by my sister (to be played at specific moments) Jay was right on queue and didn't miss a beat! Thank you So much XL for making my sister's day so special! We'll be seeing you this fall!

Tracy is definitely an awesome vocal teacher. She has been very informative throughout our lessons and definitely has been helping me find my weak spots and building them up. She uses pre made exercises and warm ups, and will try to custom tailor an exercise whenever possible. She has very flexible schedule and has been able to accommodate my own hectic schedule. Definitely found a coach for the long run!!

Carey is a master guitar player and a master music and guitar teacher. Not all guitar players have mastered the guitar and not all guitar players can teach. Carey can do both. He his fluent in the language of music theory and guitar playing technique, and effortlessly and enthusiastically articulates both to his students.

John Kunu is flexible in his approach to teaching, he brings many styles & skills to the keyboard, and he is willing to teach to what the goals of the student are rather than a regimented steps approach. John has been my daughter's piano teacher for several years. We are a musical family so it was important to us to choose a teacher with the depth in classical but also the breadth of knowledge in contemporary pop music, in order to keep our teen engaged in what she was learning. John's flexibility to teach to her interest areas while still making sure she mastered foundational skills and repertoire are rare in a piano teacher. We love that he weaves both classical instruction and improvisation so that a student is comfortable playing a piece of Bach as well as the latest songs on the radio. This has kept the learning fresh and relevant. But the greatest thing of all is when we hear our daughter wander over to the piano and just play -- she sounds beautiful and it is utter joy hearing your child make music and know that she will have this for a lifetime.

Janet was our son's violin teacher for 8 years. She was fantastic! She really catered to his interests. She is a patient and encouraging teacher. She kept him interested and challenged. She was very supportive of his concerts and Solo Ensemble - attending if she was available. He continues to play in college. She held intimate recitals in her home which were a great experience for the students. Thanks, Janet!
