I would highly recommend Mike as a guitar instructor. I studied with him for 6 years and had a great experience! I think his best quality is that he will teach you the songs and material you want to learn, but will also throw stuff at you that develops your overall musicianship (note reading, scales, theory). Because he was really good at balance I never felt bored and was able to broaden my horizons. He is also very direct and upfront about his policies, making it really easy to pay for and schedule lessons.

Great teacher! A student studying music education at Geneva who is currently training in the classroom. This allows for him to bring techniques from the classroom to a personal setting. I set out to learn how to read music and we've been flying through that, music theory, classical guitar and more. Clearly not about the money but for the love of the tunes. Highly recommended!

My daughters have taken piano and guitar lessons from Laura at Bella River Music, and we were very pleased with the progress they made. Laura's love of music is infectious, and it is evident in the way she instructs her students. Laura gave the girls both challenging and fun pieces to learn, and often sang along with them as they played. She is reliable, knowledgeable, and generous--a delightful combination!

VMA has provided my children Private guitar lessons, drum lessons and Musikgarten. Their rates are less than other music stores and teachers in the area that I've found. The teachers really care about the students and go above to help their students. The concerts and recitals they put on are great too.

About

I have over 35 years' teaching experience and a background in many styles of music including jazz, blues, rock, country, classical and music theory. My teaching style is tapered to the individual student. It's never too late to pick up a guitar and start learning. The most traditional and effective way to learn any musical instrument is through private lessons. My private lessons give students the chance to experience one-on-one guitar instruction. I taper my lessons to fit your learning style and to help you meet your musical goals. I can start you from the very beginning or build on what you have already learned. You can find me in the Waynesboro, VA white pages.
