Coach Lynn helps me in my career transition, as well as she designed my CV, trained me for interviews and enhanced my communication skills. I am convinced that she is awesome Executive Life Coach. All of my meetings and interactions with her were highly informative, helpful and I was able to gain more confidence to accomplish my goals. Coach Lynn was incredibly effective throughout my job search. Amazingly, within the month of our interactions I was able to get an excellent job. Moreover, new avenues for my career development have opened with her efforts. I am very satisfied with career coaching from Coach Lynn Johnson. She is highly experienced, insightful and professional in her work. I greatly value all the advice, training and other services that she provides to me. I highly recommend Gaurav at Knowledge Kinetics as a career and life coach. He is a keen observer of human interaction and is adept at reading character and motivations. His accumulated experience and education allow him to quickly assess skill sets and key strengths/opportunities at the individual level, helping his clients grow and progress professionally. Gaurav begins by investing time in open listening and observation, and quickly absorbs critical information and details. Once having formed thoughts and opinions, Gaurav is a thoroughly engaging communicator, whether addressing a single client or a large group. He effectively shares his ideas and recommendations with a personalized and customized approach that is always on target, leaving listeners inspired!   A few examples of Gaurav's coaching and consulting expertise and its impact on my own trajectory include the following: By leveraging Gaurav’s professional expertise transforming qualitative and quantitative data into insightful findings, I was able to bring added value to my larger team. This greatly benefited my organization from a business perspective, and allowed me to grow personally and professionally.   From a consulting perspective, Gaurav also worked effectively with senior leadership, and staff at all levels, to collaborate and advise on effective solutions to problem issues as an internal advisor. His sought-after counsel was a key input in organizational decisions. Whether helping guide you personally on your career and life journey, or inspiring larger teams in achieving critical organizational goals, Gaurav will prove an indispensable asset.

Tammy is the most approachable coach that I have been across through social media. Truly the one and only that had taken the time to explain in an easy way how the Trim liquid system works. And to be honest if I decide to sell something it will be this amazing product and her as my leader. I thank her for being real and true to herself. Love her personal journey and story she shared with all of us.

Amy is a very caring, positive supportive person. She is an excellent communicator with great patience. She was my life coach for about five years and helped me with my life goals and values. When I met my partner she became our couples coach. She was good at role playing and relationship skill exercises. She also was good at listening to us and not taking sides. The best thing I could say was that although I had been seeing her for years as my life coach , my girlfriend liked her from the start and always felt comfortable with her. She never felt that Amy favored me over her. This is the most compelling case I can make as to why Amy is so good and has a genuine affection for her clients. She is openly rooting for you. The things she could do better probably is true for most therapists and life or couples coaches. I felt especially as a couples coach she didn't challenge us enough or focus harder on some of the problems we were having. She did not however, attempt to do therapy which is beyond her training and was always clear and honest with us that she was a couples coach and not a couples therapist. My partner and I are still together and thanks to Amy we learned valuable communication skills and a respect for each other. I highly recommend Amy as both a life coach and a couples coach. You will always have a friend who cares about you and wants what's best for you in her.

Leslie’s approach to life-coaching is completely unique and it works. She gets to the heart of the matter, quickly and effectively with an approachable and formidable style. Her personal experience and deep understanding produced new insights that for me, were invaluable. The wisdom in Leslie’s coaching was key in gaining new vision and moving people through cloudy areas of their life. A key foundation to her success in life coaching is her engaging and active listening skills and ability to identify areas for improvement in a supportive way. I reached out to Leslie for assistance with achieving greater balance in my life as I was juggling five children, a potential career, and managing my own life. I highly recommend Leslie as a Life Coach, she is easy to talk to, honest, direct and has a great sense of humor.

What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

  • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
  • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
  • Defining your career goals
  • Creating a plan for job searching
  • Improving networking strategies and skills
  • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
  • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
  • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

  • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
  • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
  • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
  • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
  • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
  • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
  • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

When it’s time to take your career to the next level, it’s time to hire a career coach. The cost to have a career coach help you with your professional journey will vary based on how many sessions you require, the level of coaching you desire, and the rates of the coach as determined by their experience, expertise, education and training. On average, career coaching sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the professional and what your needs are. Career coaches in smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living will also typically have lower rates than those residing in large metro areas like New York, although most do offer remote coaching. Many coaches also offer a free introductory consultation, which gives you the opportunity to determine if their personality and coaching style are the right fit. It’s helpful to ask the coach about their relevant experience and get references from former clients. Depending on the professional, session rates could range anywhere from under $60 to well over $250 per session. Package discounts are a good way to commit to the relationship as well as get savings on services.

What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.
