We hired Gonzo for our first wedding dance. The lessons are fun and we are learning so much more than we thought we would. He makes me want to continue to take dance classes after the wedding!

In the midst of late-stage wedding planning, the thought came out of nowhere that it might be nice to take dance lessons. I brought this up to my fiancé and his immediate reaction was negative. We were already juggling too many vendors and responsibilities, he said. Where would we find the time, he asked. I reached out to Uttara anyway and scheduled a trial first class. We met her and immediately felt at ease. She asked us what song we had in mind, and when we played it for her (it's very different than the normal first dance fare) she thought about it for a second, remarked that it was different, then told us she knew exactly what kind of dance would go with it. And off we went! At the end of the first class, my fiancé was much more optimistic and we agreed to do the five class package. After the first few classes, we couldn't wait for our next class. Neither of us had any dancing experience but Uttara was always patient with us and never laughed at our clumsy mistakes. Her upbeat and postive energy went a long way to helping us learn, and she made every class so much fun! When it came time to pull off our big dance at our wedding, we somehow pulled it off and no one could believe what we had done! My mom kept clapping her cheeks and saying it was like DWTS (it was not) and the venue coordinator told us that in her ten years there, we were the first couple to do something like that. My friends' eyes were bugging out of their heads! It was so worth it, and a memory that we will cherish for the rest of our lives, and we owe it all to Uttara!

My husband and I are so glad we hired Kat to help us choreograph a surprise first dance routine for our wedding. Neither of us have any dance experience to speak of, and she was very patient with us while we stumbled through what I'm sure are very basic steps. She was able to gauge our abilities and our learning strengths very well, and above all, she was really honest about what we were doing well and what we needed to fix. Our guests were SO surprised to see what we had created with Kat - and we have so much fun with the process, from our first lesson to the final "performance." Would highly recommend Kat to anyone, even those with limited to no experience!

I began taking lessons from Helena in September 2016. Although I had the basic steps, ladies styling was something I lacked. Helena taught me a lot about ladies styling as well as the various movements of salsa and bachata. She also helped me with my posture which made a significant difference in my dance. Helena is an excellent instructor. She is very detailed and is always willing to teach you the necessary steps. Her motivation and determination allows her to shine, not only as an instructor, but also as a dancer. Thanks to Helena, I have more confidence when I dance!

Olivia’s work quality and ethics are stellar. She is professionally trained in the areas of vocal performance, musical theatre and dance. Olivia is complimented by her ease in working well with others, is a bearer of high standards, is well liked by her colleagues and students, and has a natural ability to transform these art-forms into an experience that is believable, memorable and well done. Olivia brings value and recognition to each of her performances and students are eager to follow her careful lead and tutelage. Olivia demonstrates patience when working with her students and is genuine in her encouragement to have them do their best. She establishes high expectations for appropriate student behavior and for showing respect for one another in her classes. This is a hallmark of her teaching style. Olivia is complimentary for both individual and group effort and doesn’t shy away from insisting on repeated practice when working on mastery of new skills, executing techniques and demonstrating showmanship. I wanted to learn to dance in order to be more social and mingle. I choose BlacKatz Jam because i heard what an EXCELLENT instructor Chyna is. And she certainly is!! She's engaged and excited about teaching, knows ALL the moves, and had me dancing in real dance shoes from the very beginning. Now i go dancing at least once a week!!! Learning to dance with Chyna was the best training i could have imagined. I've now moved on from salsa to ballroom and can't wait to add that to my outings! If you really want to learn the moves, understand the music and be comfortable in your shoes, give BlacKatz a try. She really is wonderful!! Miriam Rudder

        About

The Ferocity Dance Company was founded in 2012 and focuses on Bachata Fusion pieces: mixing ballroom as well as other dance styles with Bachata to create a distinct viewpoint and style. The Ferocity Dance Company houses three other franchise bachata dance teams, and has also grown to have a competitive group that performs Bachata pieces to compete in National and International competitions. The mission statement of the Company is: Fierce Is For Everyone. It is our hope that through constant support for the dance community, friendly behavior on and off the dance floor, and a distinct respect for all dance styles, that we can create a safe environment for all to learn and enjoy dancing. Whomever wants to be family, can be. Most of the students that attend Ferocity are currently performers or striving performers. Students can be seen anywhere from once a week to seven times a week - it depends on how many teams and workshops they attend! We pride ourselves on offering teams that have different bachata styles so that our dancers learn new things, new styles, and new perspective!
