FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to have a pre consultation by phone or email in order to gauge the scope of work for the project and to know more about my client in order to tailor to their needs. I like to get as much information before I begin in order to maximize our face to face time. Unless it is a shopping outing for a specific event, I would meet the client at their location and do a quick analysis of their wardrobe before beginning the styling process.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. in Fashion Design from Marymount University in Arlington, Va.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always been in this line of work, but I really started styling when my mother landed a job position where she was photographed often and needed to upgrade her wardrobe. I basically assessed her needs, considered her body type and the silhouettes and colors that flattered her. I then received a budget, and went shopping on my time. Later she tried everything on and I returned what did not work. I was able to save her time and give her a sophisticated but fun and colorful style and she's never felt better after receiving compliment after compliment. What she once did not pay much importance to, was what ended up giving her more confidence and joy than she imagined. When you look good, you feel good, and others notice.
