Karen is teaching me Spanish. She is tailoring her instruction to my level and is teaching me in a way that makes me feel relaxed and able to speak a foreign language right from the start. The one-on-one instruction is helping my pronunciation and ability to converse well beyond what I would be a able to do with textbooks or software.

It has always been difficult for me to learn Spanish in a classroom setting, so I opted for a private instructor, and I am very pleased to be working with Karen SIerra. She uses different techniques in her teaching -- reading, speaking, videos, stories, and verb conjugation. It is great that after each class she gives me the materials we used in our session, not as homework, but for me to have and review if I wish. The little Spanish I do know is just a simple, family Spanish as I am a second generation Mexican American who was raised speaking English. My goal is to become conversationally fluent, and with each class, I gain more confidence I am going to be able to do that by working with Karen. We also work together virtually which means I can continue with her when I move or when I am traveling. I highly recommend Karen if you are a beginner, or like me, someone with some knowledge of Spanish who wants to learn more.

Karen is the BEST! She is very knowledgeable, professional, patient, kind and funny. Karen provides a lot of encouragement and often challenges me, which I like! Scheduling is very flexible and she always makes class fun. I look forward to her classes every week. :)
