I searched for years for that personal trainer who truly takes the title of that job seriously. I found him in KJ Weatherspoon. KJ not only trains me well, but is genuinely concerned for me as a person at the same time. He is not just my trainer but has become a good friend as well, and thus the epitome of what a personal trainer should be all about. As a former runner over 30 years ago, I had allowed myself to be consumed with my job, putting little emphasis on the physical exercise that I desperately needed. So at 58, I finally decided that I needed to put me first again and live a healthier lifestyle. By the grace of God, I met KJ at a physique fitness competition in May at Maggie L. Walker Governors School, and the rest is history. I knew as soon as I met him that he was the personal trainer I needed to get my life back on track with fitness. He is genuine, caring, and highly talented in his field . I have been working with KJ one - on- one now for about 7 weeks three times a week and I have dropped from 205 lbs down to 193 lbs! I feel great ! KJ has helped me get stronger on a daily basis. I have even gone from not being able to do not even a single push up correctly to doing 3 sets of 10 each on a nightly basis. KJ has helped me redefine my confidence and ability to work hard and reach my goals of losing fat and gaining muscle tone at the same time. I am thankful that KJ is my personal trainer. He is orofessional, he is punctual,he is patient, he is demanding yet he is kind. Debbie started a medium-sized workout group at my work and was great at getting us to improve our muscle strength and stamina no matter at what level we began. Plus, she is so knowledgeable of many different disciplines: aerobic exercise, step aerobics, kick boxing, yoga, strength training, you name it, Debbie taught us the right technique and body positions. She led us in a great mix of workout. We never got bored and we worked many, many muscle-groups. As time went on, our medium sized group dwindled to the point of our sessions being almost one-on-one. Then, I really got to see Debbie's compassion, knowledge, and enthusiasm really come together. She put together programs targeted to our specific needs and interests. She was always on time, prepared, and a great motivator. I have gone to other trainers and workout programs, and Debbie is by far the most dedicated, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I wish I still lived in her area, so I could continue working out with her!
After working with CJ 5 days/week for 3+ weeks; I feel AMAZING. All of my friends have noticed I look slimmer and more toned. CJ isn't just your average Personal Trainer. She lives, breathes, and sleeps healthy living and is such an inspiration. She is well-rounded in everything from yoga and kickboxing to mixed martial arts and boot camp training. Toi's fitness instruction is excellent and right on target with our employee's needs. She conducts her classes with a keen eye for safety and knows exactly when to correct someone's form and offer modifications. She also challenges people to reach their own personal best performance whatever that may be. We have been so happy with her as a fitness instructor!
Carrie and her team trained me for my first race ever at the age of 55!! I had never even run outside! After many cold Sunday morning runs,several boot camp training classes and lots of nutritional advice I finished the Monument 10K in a little over 1 hour. I would highly recommend Carrie and her team to anyone that wants a professional , caring and dedicated trainer. PS expect to work hard!
Andrew is an amazing instructor! I attend one of his boot camp classes and can honestly say that by the end of class I definitely feel the workout. He pushes you to go the extra distance, while at the same time ensuring you have proper form during each exercise so that you get the most out of your workout. Definitely five stars!!
I'm happy to review my experience with Linda Schoorens, my Fitness Trainer. I can truly say this is one of the best things that have happened to me. It’s been 2 years since I joined the Silver Sneakers Fitness Program. This is the first time I’ve ever been involved in a fitness program, and motivated enough to continue this regiment because it leads to good health and longevity of life as evidenced by my boost in energy, weight loss and increased flexibility. Ms. Schoorens is caring, patient, and willing to give individual help and encouragement. She prepares each session in a different manner, while incorporating various games, making our sessions interesting and fun. She studies and shares updated material that promotes healthier bodies through diet and exercising. In addition to our body workouts, we are also challenged to exercise our brains and memory as well. I feel our classes should actually be called “holistic classes”, because Linda works with us from the top of our heads to the bottom of our feet and to the tips of our fingers. I’m continuing to learn more about my body through her knowledge and training. Mrs. Schoorens' classes are The Best Ever! She’s a “God Sent” trainer for me and to everyone in our group! I started working with Laurie in Nov 2014. Before that, for the last 15-20 years I tried to lose weight but kept gaining. At 48 my knees are going to need to be replaced soon and I had to lose the weight. Finally in July 2014 my orthopedic doctor told me to either lose the weight or be in a wheelchair. He was not going to operate on me at this weight. So at 280lb I put in my best effort with no success. I was beside myself and getting depressed. I needed something different and in Nov 2014 I googled the something different I needed. Pirate Girl Fitness was the best decision I ever made. I had a good feeling from the start. Laurie has been through the same struggles, and she understands. Even with my knee issues she found workouts that fit me. I love the one-on-one and small groups. We talk about my weight loss goals and about nutrition. She is so encouraging and truly cares about her clients. I love that I get to work out with kettlebells, medicine balls, ropes and punching bag, just to name a few. No tread mills here. She makes working out fun and always has new ideas. Not only did I find a wonderful trainer but I found a wonderful friend. Now 8 months and 50lbs lighter I just love my workouts and I feel stronger, healthier and happier then I have in a long time. I've been working with Shelly one on one for almost three months. I needed someone to shove me out of my comfort zone and found a great coach in Shelly. She's always positive and upbeat and of makes sure you push yourself farther than you think you can go while not pushing to the point of injury. Shelly is interested in overall health, so the emphasis is not on weight loss, but fitness. I definitely feel the difference in my back, core, arms and legs. Everything is shifting in a good way. I'm stronger and feel the positivity I need to make it through a demanding work schedule, Mommying and not being a total slug! It was also important for me to find someone who could work with my very weird schedule. Her flexibility has been a real plus.
I came to Laurel with goals in mind in regards to weigh loss and overall getting healthier. I had struggled with my weight and weight loss graduating high school. Work out with Linnard for about a year after he opened up his new gym. Found him to be a great motivator and a good friend in time. Experienced exceptional results with weight loss and toning. Would certainly recommend him to others.
One on one personal training. She was a great help in teaching me how to get tone with weights and also with aerobic endurance. Very helpful in my overall weight loss and was a great confidence booster.
Laura is an awesome trainer. She's helped me accomplish what I thought was "impossible." I was not seeing the results (aka weight loss) that I wanted from working out at the "Y" (3 times a week for 2 years).
