We shoot primarily on-location in natural light and use artificial light sources when needed. We also have a studio space in Reston Town Center, perfect for business headshots and lifestyle portraits alike. Laura is a talented photographer that I have been blessed to get to know this year. I hired Laura to assist me at a wedding and she did an amazing job photographing details from the wedding as well as making sure she captured the most important moments from a photojournalistic perspective. Laura has an artistic eye for styling what she wants to photograph. She is willing to go the extra mile to get “the shot”. In fact, she took the opportunity to find a ladder in the middle of the portrait session in order to capture the bride and groom from the best angle. The best way to describer her images are magical and warm! As a photographer, Laura is personable, detail oriented, punctual, and works hard to make sure the clients are happy with their images. I would recommend hiring Laura without hesitation if you’re looking for a photographer you can trust that will deliver images and an outstanding service!

Laura did our engagement shoot in Philadelphia. We posed at three different locations in the city, where Laura used her creative eye to capture some perfect shots including closeups, ring shots and beautiful landscapes using the Philly skyline. We faced some difficulty with the uncooperative weather, but Laura managed to capture great action shots of us dancing and jumping in the rain. She traveled quite a distance for us and put in a long day, all with patience and a smile. She lets the client dictate their vision, and then captures it all. She's amazingly talented and professional.

My girlfriend pick Laura for me from the photographers that submitted quotes. I needed updated professional/corporate photos for LinkedIn and a MBA program. I went to her location in Reston after seeing her photos online. While taking the photos I was a little worried because there was no studio lighting, only natural lighting. But the results were impeccable, the best professional photos I've had yet. We took some inside the Reston location where I met Laura and then on the rooftop. I loved all ten I was presented with, but could only pick three from the deal we arranged. IT WAS VERY HARD TO CHOOSE SINCE THEY WERE ALL AWESOME! After seeing my photos my coworkers have been asking about who took them and I am planning to forward her information to them (one said I should be a model, woot >_

I found Laura through Thumbtack, and she sent me a quote right away. A couple days later I had my photo session, and later that same day she sent me proofs to choose from for my corporate headshots. The process was efficient, easy, and straightforward, and she has convenient studio space in downtown Reston. Highly recommend!

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Since all professionals on Thumbtack pay to communicate with our clients on here, I am unable to give any discounts. There will also be sales tax charged of 6% for all work in DC, MD and VA. Let's chat to see if we are a good fit and if I'm able to meet your budget.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After the initial inquiry email, we set up a time to chat over the phone or via text message about any questions you may have. This will help clear up any confusion and make sure we are on the same page. I will then send you a contract to look over and if everything looks good, you can accept your quote and e-sign online. For headshots, I require full payment up front (as they can be booked last minute and often times the next day or so) via credit card or Paypal. Same goes with any session that is booked less than 2 weeks in advance. For any other session or event that is booked longer than 2 weeks out, I require a deposit of 1/2 of the session fee upon signing the contract and the balance at the end of your photography session. For weddings, I would love to meet with you and (your family - if they are involved in the decision making process) in person to go over the details of your special day and to sign the contract together. I can also do Skype/Google Hangout calls for out of town visitors. Any other questions? Please feel free to send me a message anytime!

Freelance photographer since 2008. Worked as the main event photographer for art galleries and private schools in the DC Area. Teach private photography workshops. Attended various photography workshops and conferences. Member of the Rising Tide Society, League of Reston Artists and Professional Photographers of America.
