Tony was 1 of 3 people that contacted me through Thumbtack. He has a lot of positive feedback, so that was the main reason I sought to hire him. I messaged him a list of things I wanted done (electrical and putting up wall paneling in a bathroom) and he called me shortly after. We set up a time for him to come out and look at what I needed. After that initial phone call, I messaged him a couple questions, and he responded back promptly. He also had messaged me pics of his current and past projects that were similar to my preferences. He encouraged I checkout his website for past projects and read his reviews. As mentioned previously, he has a lot of happy clients. While I was still a bit skeptical, this pre-meeting communication told me Tony not only knows what he's doing, he is proud of his work as well. He came by as expected, and right away wanted to check if I had the necessary wall panels and trim. He checked out the bathroom and quickly assessed he can do the job. This entailed vinyl wainscot panels on the walls, replacing a towel bar, and replacing the bathroom fan for one that has a light. He suggested that the fan would not provide enough light but that he could install an additional light above my bathtub. I agreed. I asked if he could/would install a light in my coat closet (and yes he would). His quote seemed reasonable to me, so we scheduled it for 2 days later starting Fri. morning). He then called me the day before the job (Thurs. morning) to tell me he had a free window that same day starting at noon and if I was available, he would start then. I luckily managed to pull away from work and let him start the job. I did not expect him to finish by 5pm; I just figured whatever he didn’t finish he would complete the next day as we had scheduled. Nope! Tony confidently stated all the expected work would be finished by the end of the day. One of his crew members, named Edward, came by to assist. The first thing they took care of was a nice job on installing an LED flush mount light (pull cord turns it on/off) in the coat closet. Tony stepped out a couple times to check out other projects he was supervising in the area. The second time he stepped away he informed me that he had to go but that Edward would continue on and finish up. No problem; Edward was working hard away on the bathroom walls/lighting. Tony then messaged me later saying the other project was not ready and that he was on his way back over. While I did not expect it, I certainly appreciated his dedication. Fast forward four (4) hours later, and I was impressed with their work! They did a fantastic job, and it's like a whole new bathroom. They even managed to clean up well without any sloppiness. Edward had pointed out one corner that still needed to be painted, but that he would have to come back at another time as he had to go.
One minor complaint: The towel bar was not put up and was still its box on the bathroom floor. When I asked about it, Edward told me that he was not aware of that specifically, and to check w/ Tony. Edward had to go anyway, but since he had just mentioned coming back to paint the corner, I was not too bothered. Tony had communicated later he would make sure that's taken care of. Things get overlooked and I can understand. It was still relieving to hear that it would be addressed. Despite that one (1) con, it was outweighed by the following pros: The rest of the work, the promptness, the cleanup, and the communication. He followed up the next day and asked if my family liked the work that was done (and yes very much so. I almost wish I could take credit for doing all the work!). He has already contacted me saying he would come Sat. morning to finish, but I wasn't home. So kudos for being available to follow through. He has recently messaged me some pics of other current projects and joked that it's from his marketing and sales department. But in reality they sell themselves. I've already decided I will definitely hire him again for my next small project.
