Water Heater Installation or Replacement

I left a fairly positive review for PMK just this morning, however, given how the owner just spoke to me, I immediately returned to update it, because courtesy and professionalism is everything and I’m shocked and let him know I would be updating this review based on his actions. They called me today to follow up on payment, which to be fair, they only accept cash or check and I let them know then that I don’t have personal checks but that I would issue one from my bank account. I experienced the death of a loved one and had to attend a funeral out of town unexpectedly and forgot to send this check. 100% my fault, and I apologized profusely. Immediately upon seeing the missed call this afternoon, I logged into my bank account and sent the check for $850, the fee that had been communicated to me. When we first spoke, I not only wrote it down, but shared it with my husband, and had a note going on my phone with other plumber’s estimates, this one broken down into $600 for the install of the water heater and $125 each for the install of the dishwasher and garbage disposal, so I absolutely did not get it wrong. He even said “so $850, maybe $900, I’ll let you know.” Given that he never followed up with any other info, did not provide an invoice, etc., I issued the check for $850, and called later on to let them know. The woman who answered said it should be $885, and I explained that wasn’t what had been communicated to me, and she repeated back to me from him in the background that it should be $600 for the water heater, $150 for the dishwasher and $135 for the disposal. Again, I said that wasn’t what he’d conveyed and asked if they’d like me to send another check. She passed the phone to him and he got loud and abrasive and repeatedly told me I was wrong/had misunderstood. The way he spoke to me really took me aback. Again, I said I could send another check but that I was irritated that he was misconstruing the actual conversation we’d had. I had not paid too much mind to this before, but my tenant told me at least twice that what I had conveyed to her was different than what Mike did-for instance, he had told me he was going to go out to her house one evening but then called her and told her I said it was ok to come the next day even though I had absolutely not. That should probably have been a red flag and similar conversations happened once or twice more, such that my tenant began double checking anything he said with me. I have almost ten rental properties in the Richmond area and ten more (one multi-unit) when including those belonging to my family members, all of whom were happy to find a competent, reasonable plumber to use regularly. Unfortunately, Mike’s rude and unacceptable behavior has guaranteed we won’t give him our business as we originally planned.

    Our pricing is determined per project. There is a base fee for each installation type however on-site conditions (Attic/Crawlspace/Basement Installations, Venting or Gas Line Modifications for Code Purposes, Emergency After Hours or Weekend Installs, etc) can require additional fees.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    All Quotes are Free of Charge! Due to COVID, we can perform virtual quotes via pictures or videos but we prefer to do on-site surveys to ensure we are properly prepared for your particular project.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    Our Master Plumber/Gas Fitter has over 50 years of industry experience. Our Lead Installation Technician has been installing water heaters, plumbing fixtures, and appliances for almost 20 years. We are a family business and both father and son work closely together to ensure your project is completed with the most up-to-date knowledge and material.
