Tony was 1 of 3 people that contacted me through Thumbtack. He has a lot of positive feedback, so that was the main reason I sought to hire him. I messaged him a list of things I wanted done (electrical and putting up wall paneling in a bathroom) and he called me shortly after. We set up a time for him to come out and look at what I needed. After that initial phone call, I messaged him a couple questions, and he responded back promptly. He also had messaged me pics of his current and past projects that were similar to my preferences. He encouraged I checkout his website for past projects and read his reviews. As mentioned previously, he has a lot of happy clients. While I was still a bit skeptical, this pre-meeting communication told me Tony not only knows what he's doing, he is proud of his work as well. He came by as expected, and right away wanted to check if I had the necessary wall panels and trim. He checked out the bathroom and quickly assessed he can do the job. This entailed vinyl wainscot panels on the walls, replacing a towel bar, and replacing the bathroom fan for one that has a light. He suggested that the fan would not provide enough light but that he could install an additional light above my bathtub. I agreed. I asked if he could/would install a light in my coat closet (and yes he would). His quote seemed reasonable to me, so we scheduled it for 2 days later starting Fri. morning). He then called me the day before the job (Thurs. morning) to tell me he had a free window that same day starting at noon and if I was available, he would start then. I luckily managed to pull away from work and let him start the job. I did not expect him to finish by 5pm; I just figured whatever he didn’t finish he would complete the next day as we had scheduled. Nope! Tony confidently stated all the expected work would be finished by the end of the day. One of his crew members, named Edward, came by to assist. The first thing they took care of was a nice job on installing an LED flush mount light (pull cord turns it on/off) in the coat closet. Tony stepped out a couple times to check out other projects he was supervising in the area. The second time he stepped away he informed me that he had to go but that Edward would continue on and finish up. No problem; Edward was working hard away on the bathroom walls/lighting. Tony then messaged me later saying the other project was not ready and that he was on his way back over. While I did not expect it, I certainly appreciated his dedication. Fast forward four (4) hours later, and I was impressed with their work! They did a fantastic job, and it's like a whole new bathroom. They even managed to clean up well without any sloppiness. Edward had pointed out one corner that still needed to be painted, but that he would have to come back at another time as he had to go. One minor complaint: The towel bar was not put up and was still its box on the bathroom floor. When I asked about it, Edward told me that he was not aware of that specifically, and to check w/ Tony. Edward had to go anyway, but since he had just mentioned coming back to paint the corner, I was not too bothered. Tony had communicated later he would make sure that's taken care of. Things get overlooked and I can understand. It was still relieving to hear that it would be addressed. Despite that one (1) con, it was outweighed by the following pros: The rest of the work, the promptness, the cleanup, and the communication. He followed up the next day and asked if my family liked the work that was done (and yes very much so. I almost wish I could take credit for doing all the work!). He has already contacted me saying he would come Sat. morning to finish, but I wasn't home. So kudos for being available to follow through. He has recently messaged me some pics of other current projects and joked that it's from his marketing and sales department. But in reality they sell themselves. I've already decided I will definitely hire him again for my next small project.
I hired John to install a TV and soundbar for my mother-in-law. He was very professional, friendly, and did an excellent job. My mother-in-law has now hired him to replace a window for her as well. I highly recommend him and will be calling for a few jobs of my own.
My dog had torn up the wood paneling of my door frame. I hired Glenn and he was able to fix it in about 30 minutes. The work looked great and he didn't over charge me. He was on time and friendly.
I will start by saying I was not an easy customer to deal with. I needed an Anderson window repair to a house in Virginia whilst I was in the UK. I found David Grover through Thumbtack who went and inspected the work and spare parts required and gave me a very reasonable quotation. The work was completed earlier than expected and at the price quoted. David made it easy to deal with him and accepted payment via Paypal which helped me out enormously. Give him a chance if you need any of the services he offers. Very satisfied with the outcome on what could have been a difficult situation to resolve from afar.
Our picture window had a big crack in the glass and needed to be replaced. Danny advised us on the options available and we decided to go with a bay window. He was very professional and handled everything for us. We got a fair and accurate estimate so there was no surprise when it was time to pay. I would recommend him to anyone!
Anthony installed a sliding glass door in my home on a wall that only had a window. He took out the window, measured the wall for placement of the door, cut the wall to make the opening for installment of the door and placed the door. His measurements were perfect. He completed the job with framework of the door and finishing. He continuously checked his work to be sure that it was exactly as it should be. If it wasn't perfect, he wasn't happy. He was careful to leave everything better than he found it. It was a pleasure working with him. Soooo happy with Anthony's work. I've recommended him to many others...all satisfied with his work... and will not hesitate to call him back when I need more work done in my home. You can't go wrong with AW Home Repairs!
Joseph's Design provided wonderful window treatments for my home. I continue to be pleased with the quality of the work and look forward to working with them again.
Overall my experience with Mr Mcgrath was fantastic! My husband and I received high quality of work in a very realistic time period. Mr Mcgrath was doing work for our home: painting, wall repair, deck repair, as well as door/window repair etc. Mr, Mcgrath was easily accessible and was prompt and professional. Would highly recommend his services.
This is the epitome of a good small/local company. Curtis Home Improvements played a difficult role in our multi-faceted home renovation. We hired them to convert a large window to a set of french doors, build a large custom deck, abandon several electric base plate heaters, have granite counter tops installed in our kitchen, install a tile back splash in our kitchen, custom cut our cabinets and installed a wall mounted microwave, installed a dishwasher, and a sink disposal. They did all this while seamlessly allowing other contractors to come in install a new heat pump, pull up carpets and put hardwoods in one room, refinish hardwoods everywhere else, and my family to remove wall paper and paint throughout the house while I built a fence. In the process, we added on a few change orders: removing, repairing and placing new tile for a bathroom floor where we found some wet rot, skim coating areas on the drywall that were messed up from previous renovations or from removing wall paper. They performed this additional work without missing a beat, and at a fair cost. Everything looks great.
Project was to repair existing (older) windows so that they could open properly and lock. Steve was prompt, gave a fair assessment with explanation, and had the work completed when he said he would. I would definitely hire again, especially since I have a future window repair/installation project in the near future.
Abi is very talented! Her maturity, professionalism and design expertise impressed me from the beginning. She has helped design rooms and spaces in our new home, spaces that felt overwhelming for me to conquer alone. Rugs, furniture, accessories, paint suggestions and window treatments are just some of the areas where her "eye" really made a difference. Our new home is coming together and it's because Abi is providing her gentle guidance and suggestions along the way. She is great at what she does and I find myself wanting to run everything by her. I hope she will be helping me with design projects for years and years to come!
