I hired her to empty boxes from a move , hang up clothes & organize closets and kitchen while Prof Movers put furniture together. I am disabled & have MS. She sounded great on the phone and I told her I pay $30.00/ hr. Everything was scheduled for Tues. March 31, 2015 @2pm. Tues. am she called me to tell me that she had Food Poisoning but she had cleared out everything for the next day. Then she said that she could " tough it out " if she came in at 3pm that day instead of 2pm. I told her that I needed someone working at 100% because there was a lot to get done and I wasn't that well myself having just had an MRI or I wouldn't have asked for help. So I called the movers and they were very nice and said they could come over on Wed. @ 2pm. I called Amy back and told her to lay back down because I got everything rearranged for Wed. @ 2pm. Now Amy sounded wide awake and said " Oh no! I feel much better now. " I just went ahead and told her that I would see her and the Movers at 2pm on Wed. On Wed. the Movers showed up at 2pm and got started and Amy showed up at 2:10pm and I showed her around and told her what room she could start in. I live in a two bedroom apt w/ 2nd bdrm used for office / storage. I started off by giving my two Movers and Amy $50.00 each, sort of a pre-tip because I knew the Movers weren't making very much money per hour and I gave Amy another $50.00 for a salary for her first hour-- so in total I gave Amy $100.00 at the beginning of the job because my MS had flared up and I needed to lay down until my medication kicked in and I wanted her to know that I trusted her to work on her own and that I appreciated it. I got myself a fruit Popsicle because it helps my stomach when I take my mess and don't eat. She asked if she could have one as well and I didn't say anything when she had her second. About 3:20pm, her cell phone rang and it sounded like she was talking to her husband. She told me that she needed to leave to pick up her husband because his truck broke down and she had to drive him to Oak Grove and it would take 20 min at most. I said OK and that I would take it off of her work time. She left at 3:25pm and I never saw her again or heard from her.After two hours I tried to call her but no answer and her voice mail was full. I texted her and told her not to come back and that technically, she owed me $50.00. Her husband texted me about 4 hours after she left to tell me she had " ceased "? The Movers were here for a total of 6 hrs, helping me clean as well. They are coming back to finish a couple of projects but for Wed., I paid them well and tipped them another $50.00 each at the end of the day. I texted Amy and told her that she would NEVER work for me again ever. I would definitely check her references in person if you are someone looking to hire Amy, as well as insist on Drug screen . Amy and I had arranged for a meeting time and I waited for her at my home. I called her several times. Finally her husb and answered her phone and said she was in the hospital. Okay. I get that. He could have called earlier to let me know. I told him to give her my best and to ask her to give me a call so we could re-schedule. She never returned the call.
