We were wanting to rebuild our stairs to create a pantry underneath. We needed help building the stringers and we did the rest of the work. Fred did a great job cutting them and his price was reasonable. He said we could contact him if we had any problems with the installation. We did run into an issue and ended up calling him, he was there to help us.

Excellent job by everyone involved. I dont mean just the building of fence. Ray was great with coming out twice to double measure and talk about job. Chris was excellent with the construction and put up with all our questions or concerns(our property is uneven so we worked around that minor issue with our gate) Cheryl and Amber at the office were great also. Couple of sweet girls, who were always available and didn't mind being bothered. When i spoke to the girls they made it feel like i was on phone with a friend, not a business. My wife and i were extremely pleased. We also needed a part of gutter replaced and Ray added it it on with a discount, on top of already discount for being a military veteran. We will be using them again as needed in future and coming yrs and we keep going with home improvements.

David Cleaver provided outstanding service and work quality in building a fence for our home. He was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and exceeded all my expectations with his work quality and craftsmanship. The price was tremendously fair and I felt taken care of if througout the whole process. The work was completed very timely, but not rushed, which lends itself to David’s meticulous attention to detail and the highest quality construction I could hope for. I give my highest possible recommendation for hiring David for your next project and I promise you will be just as pleased when you do.

I love my new fence! Thank you Hemi and team for a job well done. If you are looking for quality craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail then Hemi is your man. It did take a little patience to get on his schedule but it was well worth the wait. His team was polite to my neighbors and patient with my requests. Every night they spent at least an hour cleaning up after themselves before they left. When the job was finished they were especially diligent about leaving the area groomed. My fence is beautiful and exactly what I imagined, no... it's better than I imagined! Thanks, thanks, thanks.

We needed a good, secure fence for our dogs at our new home. After getting 2 disappointing quotes, we met with Keith Tyree-- & wished we had called him first! We weren't exactly sure what we wanted, but Keith listened, answered our questions, gave suggestions & information regarding options & landscaping & helped us plan the fence. Throughout the experience he was professional, knowledgeable, accommodating, very detail oriented-- & he gave us an excellent quote for the fence. He seemed too good to be true! But I'm standing here looking at our beautiful yard & am happy to say he is the real deal, 100%! Our fence is extremely well constructed, top quality wood, strong & secure to keep our dogs safe in the yard. We are thrilled! Foster Construction did a super job all around. We are grateful for his work, & would absolutely recommend him! He's our guy for any work we need done in the future, as well. Thank you Keith & Brian!

Don and his team were amazing. I needed to have my laminate floors replaced prior to my stuff being delivered to my recently-purchased home. I was concerned about finding an honest, professional, and capable flooring guy without a personal recommendation. I read all of Don's amazingly good reviews (much like this one), which convinced me to take the chance. I hope this review convinces you to take the chance if you are on the fence. They were able to work around my schedule to make things happen overnight. Within days, the project was complete and I couldn't be more satisfied. He and his entire team were polite, considerate, and respectful of my home, leaving nothing but a great new floor. Don even made some suggestions for what might be a better option than what I had planned without up selling me or trying to persuade me to spend more. As I do more home projects, I will definitely keep Cavelier Enterprises in mind and would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat.

Max came out and gave me an estimate to tear down the old fence and gate and put up new fence while making the gate's larger so I could move my boat through easier, his estimate was the lowest out of 4 others and he did a great job, starting and finishing in the same day, I would certainly use him again on future projects

Kenny and Luke did a great job on a large hedgerow and other shrubs on my corner lot property (owning a corner lot is a whole different world when it comes to dealing with City ordinances). They also diagnosed potential problems with my gutters, fencing, and other shrubbery that we weren't even aware of. I was amazed at how quickly they got the job completed. I would recommend this company 100%.

Re: Fence/Mailbox Installation - Burgess is truly knowledgeable in their trade. In fact, it was necessary for them to identify errors with the materials order the material supplier/pro were unable to determine. This resulted in at least two reschedules for the job. Their response was very professional.

BRIAN WAS AMAZING! I went on a limb seeing if I could find someone the day of to complete a project for me that day or the next for my rental property. He not only met me right away but was open and honest in regards to price and did high quality work!! I had Johnny barber come out in my absence to "fix" my fence for my renter's and I had no idea how horrible the work was. Brian took very good care of me and I will.call him for anything I possibly can in the future now!

I found them, or they found me, on thumbtack. They were extremely quick with their responses, polite, and knowledgeable. I am active duty stationed out of town, and I needed some fence repair on a rental property. I did not want to redo the whole fence, so they worked with me on what they could do as well as pricing. They kept in constant contact with me in regards to a timeline, and sent me photos of the work when it was completed. Due to being out of town, I was hesitant about finding someone without meeting them. But they made me feel sure of my choice from the beginning, and definitely delivered! I am happy that I got the chance to work with them, and will definitely be calling again for future repairs!

Fence looks nice and appears well put together. We had the old one removed, and the new put in and sealed. Construction was delayed by almost a week due to owner getting stuck out of town, but once started was completed quickly. Due to neighbor's structures on edge of property lines, some of the fence was forced to face opposite of the direction we had originally planned. I do wish this had been told to me during initial consultation. Gate was installed on wrong side, but we decided to go with it. Everett's was pretty communicative, and answered our questions, even after hours. They do not work weekends, but did answer texts.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
