Sean was absolutely incredible! Upon request, he showed up after hours and was very professional and precise. We absolutely love our living room set up. He mounted our TV and ran our home theater system perfectly. Love him!! This guy was awesome. Highly recommended! On top of that, even though it was late in the evening, he didn't charge us extra. This guy is worth every penny! Very professional and relatable. Down to earth just an all around excellent guy! Hire him before anybody else! You will not regret it. Trust me.

We worked with Touch of Brilliance in July of 2017. They came in with the best price and the fastest availability. We hired them because they were so well reviewed. They came out and finished the job in the time they said they would, which was great, especially being that they were able to work around us and we didn't have to close. We have a 5k office space in Norfolk. I can't even explain how much we love the paint job. I can say that we needed to expand the painting into another room and since it was such a small space, we were going to knock it out ourselves. Well, my employee tasked with the painting quit early and took it upon himself to hire someone to come out the next day and paint the rest of that room, plus the final one we had left. That contractor came in and did a TERRIBLE job. There are faded spots, and smeared spots and even paint on carpet. I am going to have to beg Antonio to come out and fix what my employee paid that other company to do. I hope he has availability again. I've learned my lesson as far as painting goes, just be smart and hire Touch of Brilliance at the beginning and save myself and my company the hassle of not leaving everything in the capable hands of Touch of Brilliance.

Corey was very professional from beginning to end. He was very quick at coming over to give me an estimate and setting a date for painting. I hired him to paint my entire living room along with adding personalized stripe on two of my living room wall. I was amazed at how fast he completed this job and the work was fantastic. I will be hiring him in the future to complete other painting projects in my home.

I hired Mr. Todd to paint my master bedroom and two small rooms to include ceiling and trim. I was beyond impressed with his meticulous work and attention to detail. He knocked out all three rooms in two days. I don’t think he took a break..lol I have already discussed him painting the other rooms in the house. I definitely recommend Mr. Todd for your painting needs.

I recently purchased my first home and pretty much the whole house needed painting. Joe contacted me when he said that he would. He came to my home, explained how his crew would complete the job, and had my estimate prepared by the end of the day. His crew was courteous and professional and the work was completed ahead of schedule at a reasonable price. My home looks beautiful and I couldn't be more happy! Thanks Joe! I will definitely use your services for future projects.

I was looking for a painter for my daughter's bedroom and was so fortunate to hire Samuel. He is absolutely amazing- his work is perfection! Samuel cleaned and prepared the walls/trim, painted the ceing, walls, doors and trim. He completely covered the large king bed and dresser in the center of the room and covered the entire floor. NOT a drop of paint on anything but the walls! Samuel immediately responded to my emails during our negotiations and was always at our home when he said he would be there. He took his time and never rushed. If you would like painting done in your home or business I highly recommend Samuel!

We are selling my parents house that needed to be updated with new paint. The family room is vaulted and difficult to get to. Maritza brought her equipment and did a beautiful job. She came on very short notice and has worked with me long distance to get things done. She is also clean and tidy which is often not the case with painters, etc. I highly recommend her as the best painter I have ever worked with . I have owned 4 houses and have a lot of experience with painters so do yourself a favor and hire her. Her quality is worth the price which is competitive with others.

Kyle with GA Renovations did an EXCELLENT job on repairing my bathroom ceiling that had water damage. He provided a very reasonable quote, came on time, repaired everything on 1 afternoon and cleaned up spotlessly. Would recommend his company for any renovation. I've just rehired them for stamp concrete design around my swimming pool. Excited for the summer!

I had all the rooms painted in my condo with two different colors. The team presented themselves professionally and they were excellent overall. In terms of critiques, the team lead was somewhat pushy, his estimated price on Thumbtack was well underestimated, thus getting me to tap his quote, and the team lead did not call back to follow up on the completed work. There were some drops on fixtures that were overlooked. However, very good work at a reasonable price. I just wished the team lead had been more accurate in his thumbtack estimate.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
