Miguel was very professional and did our roof repair even earlier that expected. He advised us of the condition of the roof ( our roof is about 13 years old, but winds have been hard on it). The work was done quickly. We will definitely use M & A in the future for other projects...

Couldn't be happier with knowing the project of my roof and fence were in good hands. There was no stress knowing the job would be done the right way by a company that is highly skilled and willing to go out of their way... They custom built my fence for my three dogs (one being a high jumper pit bull mix) and created a more sturdy fence with four posts high and deeper post holes. I couldn't be more stoked on the finished project and will use them for future home upgrades!

We did a complete re-roof. This involved taking all old material off of the roof and installing the new materials. Ralph was a constant professonal from the time he came to speak to me about the project until the project was completed. He really took the time to ask and listen to any concerns I had. He did exactly what I asked of him. Ralph personally supervised the project from start to finish on the day of install. His crew was also extremely professional and actually took pictures of the problems they found on the roof, so I could see exactly what was wrong.

I did my homework in planning the new siding and gutters for my house. I got 4 estimates and chose Ricky Shakallis. He answered all my questions and I had a lot of those, staying in constant contact throughout the project and his crew did an exceptional job on the installation. I couldn't have ask for a better or more experienced contractor. He definitely knows what he is doing. I would recommend him to anyone wanting beautiful siding, gutters or a new roof and someone who will take care of your home as if it was his own.

Lee and his employee James were great! After having 5 contractors come to my house for in-home estimates to complete my finished off garage, I hired Lee for the job. Lee came out to give us a quote to frame and drywall a ten foot wall, to closet in my washer and dryer - he was extremely reasonable in price, started immediately, and had the job done on time, as promised. They were prompt, excellent, quality work and cleaned up everything when the job was complete. I would absolutely hire Lee and James again!!

I had estimates from three different roofing contractors. The only one who stayed in touch with me during the process was Donald from Roof Repair Service. When he came out to do the estimate, he explained the repair process from start to finish, gave multiple repair options, and affordable estimates for each option. My boss decided to go with RRS and from start to finish I was given progress pictures and updates daily. I was told by our staff that his team was punctual, professional and courteous. The quality of work was A1. I'd definitely recommend Roof Repair Services to anyone without hesitation.

I was very pleased with the work from LVC Construction. Shane made special arrangements to come out and give me a quote. He was willing to work on my double wide when most companies would not. He came on time to install my roof in 100 degree heat. He made sure the job was done correctly and it looks awesome.

Jimmy repaired our roof at a fair and reasonable price. No more leak! They did not try to oversell us on a full roof replacement as other contractors did. Found the leak and replaced the damaged area.

I have worked with Mark Barrett, owner of Top Notch General Contracting for almost 10 years. He has basically redone my entire home...from exterior doors and windows, gutting and remodeling baths, removing a fireplace and reworking the roof, and much more! He has gutted and installed a brand new kitchen at my Mom's home and completed work at many of my real estate client's homes. Top Notch contractors are particularly excellent carpenters and drywall installers, but they can do any job you need. Mark is timely and does what he says he is going to do. If a subcontractor does not do a job right, Mark will redo it himself until you are satisfied. I will not work with anyone but Top Notch!

I contacted and interviewed 5 different roofing contractors to get estimates on replacing my 23 yr old roof, install trim wrap and soffets, and to remove and replace my gutters. After going over all the bids, I decided to go with Don Rafa. The owner, Rafael, listened to my concerns and answered all of my questions on multiple occasions. He was down to earth, and his prices were fair and within the price point for the amount of work I was looking to do. He was very accommodating and gave me recommendations on my particular roofing needs. After signing the contract, Don Rafa was accommodating to my schedule and started the roofing project on a date we agreed upon. The workers were friendly, professional and helpful, answering any additional questions that I had. They did a fantastic job in tearing off the old roof, replacing bad wood and installing GAF Timberline HD shingles, with GAF's Cobra underlayment and ridge vent system. They installed the roof per my contract and within two days. The roofers placed tarp down to protect my yard and cleaned up after they were done, they also used a magnet roller to pick up any stray nails. I am very pleased with the quality of the work!!! After the new roof was replaced, Don Rafa's roofers started the trim work making sure to remove and replace any bad wood. I have a fairly large home with a wrap around porch, so it took a couple of days to finish the trim. The new trim looks great and was professionally installed using quality caulked (OSI Quad) as required. Lastly, Rafael had a great gutter sub-contractor who was able to replace all of my gutters within a day. The gutters were seamless and manufactured at my home using a seamless gutter machine. They even placed an additional downspout (at my request) in an area that I previously had some problems with the amount of water coming off the roof. The new gutters are look great and were installed professionally. I highly recommend Don Rafa roofing for you roofing needs. Rafael was honest, intelligent and knowledgeable concerning roofing materials, shingle manufacturers and warranties, trim and gutter work. I am pleased to say Don Rafa was able to do all of this work within budget and on schedule. Thanks Rafael and Team!!! Dan McAdoo

Very professional! Great worksmanship! The job they did on our roof was great. During any rain storm, my roof had several trouble areas that caused several trips in my attic to do patch jobs that wouldn't work. JB Design came through and replaced my entire roof, I now have no leaks or cracks anywhere. I dare anyone to come and try to find a flaw in their work..... you won't, trust me I tried! Next is my siding..... Thank you JB Design!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
