Carla taught me the importance of creating a relationship of respect and leadership with my dog Raven. It is such a joy to have a dog who makes eye contact and wants to walk with me now instead of pulling me all over the place on a walk. I can actually stop and talk to people I meet, most importantly when they have a dog also, and my Raven can control herself and sit out lie down and show her manners. Carla is very patient, explains the why of training, and gives very clear step by step homework to do to establish the behaviour that makes sharing your life with a dog a joy. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs to teach their dogs self control. I live in Chapel Hill, NC and find it is well worth the four hour drive to come to her. It is much better in the long run to find a trainer who knows dogs and can develop a training plan for your dog and not a cookie cutter approach that may not address the issues your dog needs the most. Hope to see you at Dutcheast Dog Training Center soon!

I've ben told by several people to put my dog down. Ever since going to Dutch East, a huge transformation has occurred. My dog is now listening to me and has some manners and we aren't done training yet.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $50 per hour with a package of 10 classes. Please note that in the beginning this is personal and individualized training, meaning one-on-one with the dog and handler. After I teach the handler what they need to know, other dogs will be involved.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Personal, one-on-one sessions until the handler and dog are ready for group work.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
l enrolled myself in a puppy training class more than 40 years ago and the trainer thought I was a natural talent, so here I am still having fun. It also helps that I love to work with animals.
