I have been working out for many years, so when a a friend asked if I would joun her to take Lisa's Biggest Lose weight loss program this winter, I thought it would be just another "rah-rah" group of women trying to lose weight. WRONG! Lisa is one of the most down to earth, no nonsense, not going to sugarcoat, motivated and caring personal trainers I have EVER met. I was quickly hooked on her weekly classes and have made Taking Shape my new home away from home. She is currently expanding her studio to include numerous group fitness classes and I can't wait tto see what she has in store!
Natalie has been hands down the best I have worked with in about 10 years. She is very personable! She offers everything from weight lifting to yoga to nutrition, if only I could get someone to clean my house... I'd be set in life!

I was limping because my pelvis tilted and chiropractors only provided short term relief. I have seen Steve twice and feel great. I am no longer limping and have relief and more flexibility and feel so much better. This technique is a hidden gem and Steve is awesome. He is very professional and communicates what he is doing and provides explanation to all of my questions. I will be seeing him again for sure and getting my husband to see him.
I took yoga classes with Hannah in Okinawa Japan, I really enjoyed and learned something new every lesson. Jeff is natural awesome teacher! He brings into his class his passion and knowledge of yoga. His class is powerful but at the same time loving and calming reflecting his compassion into his teaching and students. He creates an energetic flow of postures that will take you into a calmness and peaceful state. One you practice once with Jeff, you would want more! Kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity fully describes Jeff as a teacher. I have been practicing yoga for eight years with many different teachers and styles and love Jeff's class! Muning was excellent! She catered to my needs and is very big on safety in the poses. She teaches you how to do them correctly as to not hurt yourself. She has a wonderful disposition!
I took two classes with Bettina, and I left both of these experiences feeling refreshed mentally and physically. The yoga poses transitioned well from one to the next and Bettina always offers modifications for poses, or ways to challenge yourself more. I would definitely stick with this class, and plan to when it becomes available to me.
I hired Hannah for a week of private classes for my family and friends that were in town for our reunion. She came to our hone and brought with her beautiful energy, attention to details, and her incredible teaching skills. My grandfather who has never practiced yoga and my freakishly athletic sister who is quite the yogini were both able to enjoy a practice even though they are at such different levels. We were all so pleased we hired her!!

When I made arrangements for Karen to come over for the first time, I was a bit uneasy. I had never hired a personal trainer to come into my home before. I was mainly looking for someone to help me lose a few pounds before my wedding; I was NOT looking for a 'boot camp instructor' type of trainer. As soon as I met Karen, I was very much at ease. Her fitness interests and qualifications were exactly what I was looking for. She quickly came up with an exercise plan for me that was effective, but not overwhelming or exhausting. She has a very friendly demeanor, and explains and demonstrates exercises very well without being intimidating or 'bossy'. Even though she has a busy schedule, she has been flexible and accommodating when scheduling times to come to my house. I have also been going to her pilates class at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, which I love! I feel like a get a good workout without being sore the next day. I would definitely recommend her to someone who has similar fitness/weight loss goals as I do.

We offer yoga classes for all levels. Atma Bodha is a Sanskrit term which means "self-knowledge" or "self-awakening". We believe that yoga is more than just a series of physical exercises. Yoga is about realizing our potential as human beings and the peace within each of us. We believe that yoga practice should be adaptable and therefore, offer classes for beginner through advanced students. Our basic classes are great for new students and those who are looking for a more gentle practice, and our open-level vinyasa classes are excellent for experienced beginners through advanced students.
