Marian and Mike Linett were and amazing couple to meet and were very professional when it comes to there photography business. There prices were very affordable even on a budget and when you visit them to discuss what you want for your photos in there home they make you feel very welcomed. Marian was the one who was our photographer. She was so nice, funny and very outgoing and her photos for me and my bride came out amazing. She knows what places to take the pictures at the Founders Inn to make the wedding experiance amazing. She even showed up a little early to help out my bride when she was getting ready. I would deffinetly recommend Marian and Mike Linett to be your photographer for your wedding. A Deffinet Five Star with out a doubt..Thank you Marian and Mike Linett You guys are the best!!

Westley did my wife Jasmin and I's wedding this december. The music was one of the highlights of the reception. It was upbeat and live the entire time. People were dancing and having a lot of fun. I felt like our wishes and requests were respected and we definitely got more than we were expecting. It was perfect!

Parker was truly amazing to work with! He was so responsive before our big day came and always open to hearing our vision and ideas while also telling us about his personal style and describing what he thought would work for us. It genuinely felt like he was excited to be a part of our big day, and so many of our wedding guests talked about how kind and professional he was. Every time I looked at him he was beaming! He was so flexible when it came to the day of the events, whether it was schedule changes or impromptu filming, he was right there and ready to handle it. He was even able to incorporate a drone for our ceremony! In the best way, I didn't even notice he was there half of the time- which helped him to capture all of us in our natural elements I'm sure! He worked so well with our photographer and they just met the day of. I absolutely CANNOT wait to see his finished product but I know that it will be amazing!

DJ J Soup was our DJ for our Wedding on Oct. 3rd, 2015!! He was THE BEST! He played exactly the right kind of music that fit my "theme", and he managed to fit in all of the requests from our guests, and all of the particular songs that my husband and I asked for. He got our wedding guests out of their chairs and onto the dance floor! I highly recommend him for your next event, whether that be a wedding, birthday, corporate event, or just an epic party! He is a great guy to work with.

My wife contacted Jamison to edit a video from our wedding last summer. We were initially impressed with how quick and professional Derrick was with his response. We also thought that the price was reasonable. For part of the video, we asked if Derrick could give it a vintage look, as if it were shot with an old 8mm camera. We also asked if he could include specific songs in the video. I really wasn't sure what to expect because this was the first time I've ever asked for this kind of service, and because another vendor had recorded the footage of the event. I was amazed by how fast Derrick got back to us with the proofs, and even more amazed at how it turned out! The video surpassed my expectations. It told the story of our wedding day, and the music fit in perfectly. The video can be seen on the website at http://www.jamisonmedia.biz under "Wedding Films."

Love her!! She's captured my family from engagement, our (HUGE) wedding, my maternity session, my daughters newborn session, her 1 year smash cake session and then our family session! Brandi captures every priceless moment, candid, posed, you name it, and has the most bubbly, fun personality, I couldn't ask for more in a photographer and will use her for years to come! I'll never forget when she took care of us on our wedding day, 11 HOURS and she was 8 MONTHS pregnant! Her dedication to her work and absolute talent is unparalleled! If you're looking for a photographer that gets a 'natural' smile, she'll stand on her head to get your kids giggling, works on the adults, too!

We hired Chris to take wedding pictures for my daughter. He did a great job asking questions to find out exactly what we had in mind, got some special pics I asked for and all-in-all did a wonderful job. We later hired him to do a video of an annual event for us, and he did a wonderful job capturing the overall scene as well as capturing all of folks attending. And he added the same music that we had playing to the video! It was great, and Chris is so nice and pleasant to work with. We were totally happy and will recommend him to others wanting video or still photography!

Best wedding photographer ever. Jessica is the best to work with, responds quickly to emails, comes off as being the nicest person ever, and is an amazing photographer. I'm very picky and hard to please but Jessica made sure all my concerns were taken care of well in advance, she scouted the location in advance, took detailed notes everytime I talked with her, etc. She's just the best and I'd definitely use her again for any other professional photos I want done.

Marissa went above and beyond providing us with more than enough photos to last us a lifetime! Not only did she allow outfit changes, but we only asked for 10 edited photos and she provided 30!! We're obsessed with her photos, but what we cannot wait for is the day we can hire her to film our wedding! Thank you so much Marissa for giving 110 percent

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
