- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After a couple responds to my bid, I talk with them on the phone. Typically we will have an in person meeting. I learn what type of ceremony they are interested in having. And I get to know them more as people which is important to the overall meaningfulness of the ceremony. I provide templates and suggestions for the actual ceremony. We then will email back and forth about the vows and any concerns they may have. I will show up and lead rehearsal, if needed. If a couple decides they want premarital counseling, we will meet at their home or on FaceTime for three sessions. I show up early on wedding day to complete paperwork and address any last minute concerns. It is important to me that couples don't worry about me showing up. I focus on the ceremony itself and the words I am saying as I speak to help them feel the seriousness of this action. Yet, it is also joyful and I try to convey that as well. I see officiating at weddings as a ministry. I hope to offer my loving presence at a greatly significant event/transition in a couple's lives.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am always looking for new literature to read in the field. I frequently check out the bookstore or library for new editions on the subject of marriage and premarital, marital counseling. I have discovered many rituals online that I preserve in my online library to suggest to future couples, for example: Sand Ceremony; Unity Candle; Hand Fasting Ceremony; Celtic Knot Ceremony; etc. I am a graduate of seminary with a Masters in Divinity. I have a license to perform marriages in the State of Virginia. I have a two year certificate from The Well Spiritual Direction School to provide Spiritual Direction also known as Life Coaching. I have a Stephen Ministry Certification obtained after six months of course work.
