Rhema Designs & Remodeling, Inc.
About this pro
We hired Rhema for a small basement reno in our mid-century townhouse in Alexandria. The scope of work included: adding a full bath, replacing carpet with tile, moving some electrical and finishing a wall. The owner originally estimated the project to take two weeks. A month into the project I began to raise concerns about the workers not showing up for days at a time and questioning when the job was actually going to get done. The owner did not like my questions and chose to engage in an argument which I found incredibly unprofessional. The two week project turned into a four month project and there were all kinds of excuses for why the working team couldn’t show up to work. I reality, the owner booked more jobs than he could handle at once and was doing the bare min to keep the appearance of working. This is a family owned business and the owner and his adult children do some of the work but the majority is subcontracted out. We found the tile layer and the electrician to be very friendly and professional. We were hit with a couple of change orders which is to be expected in this business. All, in all, the work was done and we are enjoying our renovated basement. On a scale of 1-5, I rank the services as follows: Professionalism - 1 On time - 1 Cleanliness - 3 On budget - 2Mar 24, 2018VerifiedEugene G.'s reply
Nora, thanks for your review. There is one critical fact, left out, the plumber on the project became seriously ill, which accounts for a loss of a few months. We did retain another plumber and informed customer of this challenge.

I could not more highly recommend Eugene or this company. I reached out via Thumbtack on a Thursday afternoon in desperate need of quick help. My husband and I were selling our home and needed some quick consultation as a result of a home appraisal. Eugene made time for us the very next day. He took the time to talk me through what he saw and explain with great detail so that I could understand. He then wrote a detailed, thorough report that he got back to us the very next day. I appreciated his thoughtfulness, flexibility, and work product, and you will too!Aug 17, 2017Verified
We had a few disconnects related to expectations, timing and deadlines but the project turned out pretty nice.Jul 28, 2017Verified
Rhema scheduled an appointment with me, confirmed it here on Thumbtack and then failed to show up! No explanation from them. Not even an apology. Wasted a good few hours of my time when I waited for them. ***In response to Rhema Designs & Remodeling's reply, he's full of it. Never called me. Never told me about a funeral. Nothing. This guy is a liar.Jul 5, 2017VerifiedEugene G.'s reply
I was unaware that I needed to prove my loved ones' death and provide a call log as a prerequisite to resolve a missed appointment, for which I have apologised. I have the Obituary and the 3 calls logged on my Verizon Statement, I could make those items available.
