My wife booked Mark to prepare and cook a private dinner for my 40th birthday and our experience was truly amazing. Mark and his assistant were supremely polite and professional upon entering our home. They had communicated with my wife about the kitchen space we had and were upfront about what items they would need from us at their disposal. Once set up, they got right to work in preparing a delicious three course meal for us and were ready to plate and serve once we put our daughters down to bed. First course was a roasted squash, caramelized fig and feta salad that had fresh orange and pomegranate, then dressed with an apple cider vinaigrette. Second course was a rack of lamb that was seasoned well, tender and delicious. This was served with a macaroni au gratin that was bursting with flavor! To finish our meal, my wife told him that my favorite dessert was bread pudding. He and his assistant made one of the best and classic bread pudding desserts we’ve ever had, topped with a homemade vanilla cinnamon sauce. We were blown away at the experience of having a private chef come into our home and make us not only an amazing meal, but more importantly, a memory that will not soon be forgotten! 10/10 we would recommend Mark to do the same for you!

I was quite disappointed with the service provided by Chef Mark. He is certainly a nice guy and it seemed that he was trying but he and his serving assistant were totally over their heads in doing a dinner for 10 with table service. My largest complaint is that the main course was served sporadically. He served two people and then there was a twenty five (25) minute delay before anyone else was served. That is not a typo. 25 minutes. The remaining eight meals came one at a time over 15 more minutes. The last person didn’t get his meal until 40 minutes after the first person was served. We all sat there calmly enjoying ourselves throughout but it was absurd. I never heard of serving meals until they were all plated. My second biggest complaint is that he made a big mess and did not clean up as he went. I have a large sink and I came in to the kitchen very calmly to see what was happening during the long wait and dishes and pans were stacked in the sink rising to over a foot above the counter level. This was especially concerning because we were using our fine China and cut crystal. The were stacked indiscriminately with pots and pans. In fact the eventual clean up was totally inadequate and I found dirty glasses and dishes in my cabinets the next day. He also managed to lose a sterling silver fork. When I complained to him he was not nice and said I owed him an apology because I asked him to prepare two last minute dishes. The first was to arrange some precooked shrimp on a plate for guests during the cocktail hour. Five minute job. The second thing was to turn the bread into garlic bread. I was very prepared to pay for both, which he could also have refused. But he agreed. By the end of the night I (and my guests) felt I was being very generous in paying him in full. Overall a very disappointing experience.

Hi Arthur, Some apology is owed on my end, but not for the reason that you’re thinking. I’m sorry for allowing you to welcoming me in a kitchen that I had to clean before using. I’m sorry for allowing you over step a boundary by asking me to prepare two dishes that I was not compensated for, or aware that you wanted me to prepare before the event. You invaded my workspace SEVERAL times, and contaminated one of my dishes. I am sorry that this was such a poor experience not only for me; but my food service assistant. I have a zero tolerance policy on disrespect and entitlement. The real person who needs a apology is my assistant, and your guests who wanted my contact information when I was leaving, and you tried to bar them from exchanging information.

Mark has a very astute observation and proper work etiquette and also is an Amazing team player. When I need advice or help with anything outside of work he’s always there to help
