Introduction: We are a small firm that specializes in a full range of residential design services, both architectural and interior design, and have years of construction experience as well. We combine a love of architectural details with the practical knowledge to bring them to life and have all sorts of experience with homeowners and their specific needs and desires. We love the personal relationships that we forge with our clients and the unique way that we are able to bring their dreams to life in our design work. We have used Thunder Mill Designs for several different renovation projects. Each time, Irene took our general ideas and turned them into better plans then we could have imagined. She's creative yet respectful of the wants and needs of her clients. She is visionary with an eye for detail. She does brilliant design work but is just as careful in recommending a tile pattern or choice of material. We appreciated her sense of design for whole spaces, expanding her skill beyond architecture to creating a mood and style for an overall space. Never an issue with timing or responsiveness. We'd love to use Thunder Mill again.

Irene has been the architect of our home in Vermont from the first design through all the additions and changes over the last 20+ years. She designed the home via fax while we are living abroad and the house was completed all while we were out of the country. Every detail was perfect! As our family grew and our time spent in the home increased, Irene helped us to expand and put our thoughts and ideas to paper. I can't recommend her enough! For a new house design, an addition or a remodel, Irene is an excellent chose for your project.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I would like my clients to understand that it takes many years of training to become a licensed architect. Not only are we trained in design but we are also expected to uphold life safety issues and exceed code standards, where possible. Our work is not a simple matter of changing a wall color such as you might see on reality makeover TV shows. It integrates three dimensions in space, psychology, legal issues, and communication, just to mention a few.
