These guys are the best! They are very professional and friendly. They thoroughly cleaned my roof, gutters, and siding. They took their time to clean up all of the debris from the roof and gutters. The exterior of my home has never looked so clean. I will be recommending them to my friends and family. Great service!

Hardcore moving efficiently and quickly moved all my things out of my house after 43 years of living there. Corey managed and oversaw all aspects while efficiently and orderly moving everything. He was not afraid to jump in and help when needed as I had not finished packing boxes. He was very kind. A stressful day turned into a joy because of them. He also bid on painting my new home. Meticulously he painted each room with joy. He was very reliable, honest and did what he said he would do. He also power washed the moss off my roof and cleaned up the area better than it had before the roof cleaning.

The project included reattaching gutter and cleaning the roof from moss. It was very easy to deal with the contractor, gave a fair quote, completed on schedule and provided a good service. Will hire him again

Monte installed a 2" plumbing vent from a bathroom through the roof. Cleaned roof and gutters of debris, pine needles and cleaned the porch of debris that he blew off of the roof. Great guy. Showed up on time in a professional manner and conducted the business at hand to standard. After installing the drain vent Monte offered to clean to roof at discount because he was already on site. He did a good job at that too.

Enrique is a "Jack of all Trades". He was contracted to paint the exterior of the house. Before all work had been completed he had also re-roofed the flat roof of the house addition, replaced the water tank, repaired loose hanging gutters and did some minor drywall repair. Too, he noticed some incidental items that needed addressing. He corrected these at no additional charge. He was prompt and completed all work in an agreed upon time frame. I highly recommend him.

John is a one of a kind carpenter. He installed my hardwood floors and baseboard first and did a beautiful job. Later, I had him back to clean the moss off of my roof and do some repairs to it. Now, I am hiring him again to make me a farmhouse table. I wouldn’t hesitate to have him do any job. I would even wait for him to have availability to fit me in. I won’t have another carpenter in my house besides John.

Gafco Roofing and Construction started to impress my wife and I from the beginning with a competitive and detailed bid. We decided to hire Gafco to paint our house and renovate our deck because we felt Eric, the owner, understood our needs and could deliver what we wanted at a competitive price. We were not let down. The crew and Eric showed up early, worked hard, listened to our concerns and wishes, and went above and beyond to ensure the work area was clean and safe at the end of the day. With three young children that was really important. The work was completed on time and the product was exactly what we expected.

We spent months attempting to find a company to work on our roof. While other companies delayed, a quote was submitted within days of contacting SoundPacific and the work was done shortly after. It was an easy and painless process that exceeded all expectations. I also can't emphasize enough how much I appreciate SoundPacific's communication and integrity. We requested a quote for another roof but decided to differ the maintenance to a later date. Michael continued to answer key questions with the understanding that we would likely put the project on hold.

I hired United Brothers Roofing for repairing my parent's roof and my mom wrote this review: My daughter called United Brothers Roofing for me. We needed roof repairs by the end of the month. They came with a quote the next day, exactly when they said they would. They came and made all the repairs on the morning of the 30th. They also repaired some flashings around the vents in the roof. The flashing weren’t included in the quote, but they charged exactly what we were quoted. The roof looks great now. They cleaned up any debris from the repairs. All of the people, from United Brothers Roofing were super-nice people. I highly recommend them, and will be calling them again.

Cliff cut soffits and replaced vents in our roof. We had very hard time getting roofing contractors to come out and assess the work as we are in peek roofing/rainy season. Cliff gave us a reasonable quote below the cost of other roofing contractors and completed the project in less than a day.

We had the Valor Gutter Cover system installed after researching available options. The Valor system is designed for the Northwest using materials made for the weather and for addressing pine needles, pollen general litter not just broad leafs. The engineering makes sense for those tired of cleaning their gutters and unclogging downspouts. The sales manager Kurt was friendly, informative and professional. The install crew showed up on schedule, worked efficiently and thoroughly cleaned up when finished. We highly recommend Gutter and Roof Solutions NW Mike and Yrish Feldman - Renton, WA

The cover provides shed and allow full sunlight as well as the roof is made of transparent polycorbonated plastic. We like the roof design a lot. It looks awesome when we look up. Brian did a good job in all professional way from bid to finish the work. I recommend Crafts Construction for any kind of quality home improvement projects.

We are in the process of selling our home, and when the first rain hit Washington someone looking at our house noticed a leak in the garage. Due to wind damage at some point, insurance said to replace our roof. Since we are selling to move out of state and my husband already has moved, we were looking at getting it done fast. Synergy was able to come out to look at it the day after contacting them, had everything order and delivered 2 days later, and my roof was completed in 3 days. I am glad to have another big project done on the house before we have inspections. My only advice would be to make sure contractors clean up after themselves. There were some cigarette butts in our driveway That were left by one of the contractors, which doesn't look good when showing a home!

Ana was wonderful. She was very responsive, came to our house very quickly and was very knowledgeable. She assessed the concerns and made recommendations. Her worker found an area another contractor had not completed correctly and told us what to do regarding it. I would definitely call her again.

Hire this guy. I am a General Contractor and after dealing with several flakey roofers, I stumbled across Lance here on Thumbtack. Lance is an excellent roofer and his prices are good for the budget. Lance and his crew even tried to roof my project 9/12 pitch in the snow. He really put forth a great effort and does what he says. Can't say enough great things about Rodby Roofing

roof cleaning & moss treatment

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
