FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly reading and updating my knowledge about computers and software. I spend no less than two hours a day reading up on the latest technology so that I can give best customer service that I can, not to mention it is so fascinating.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common job that comes to me is software related. Viruses are ever present on the web; some software doesn't seem to work well with some computers; The Blue Screen Of Death Can Pop up at anytime and ruin your day. I have been working with Microsoft Operating Systems since Windows 3.11 in 1996, and have used all current versions of windows. There are loads of tricks in my tool bag to help get Windows to do what you want it to do. The lion's share of these are commonly driver issues or issues with Massively Multi-player Online Games Another common issue brought to me are ones related to failed hardware and obsolete hardware in need of upgrade. And Finally the remainder of my jobs involve home networking, All-in-One Computers, and Building and designing Gaming, Video Production, and home recording studio systems.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
1.) Not All Shops and Techs are created equally, and just because someone has Microsoft A+ Certification does not mean they know what they are doing. I have over 15 years of Real World Experience and Have learned many things that are not covered by Certificate or Degree classes. 2.)Shop Around. It takes a bit more work to call multiple shops and techs to try to get the best price, but in these tight economic times, a penny saved is a penny earned. 3.) Buy parts and Computers from Online Retailers such as PC Mall, Tiger Direct, New Egg, or E-Bay. Better yet hire a tech, like myself, to dig around and get you the best prices that you can. 4.) Get a PayPal Account and use it for any online purchase that you can. If your shop or tech accepts it pay them with it too. PayPal is the safest way to protect yourself from online fraud and shenanigans. 5.) Pick a Tech with real world experience, just because the neighbor's kid build his own computer doesn't mean that he will be able to build yours and provide you with support over the life of your machine.
