Absolutely happy with Jennifer and Ana. Both are wonderful trainers who truly understand dogs AND owners. From past experience I must say that that is not too common. There were trainers in our lives that brought out the uncharacteristic wish in me to drop to the ground and sit when they yelled the command. Me! Anything to please them. Needless to say my dog's respect for me melted through the planet's core and was on its way to China when I found Thumbtack (fate must have taken over, taking pity on me, leading my fingers over the keyboard that I could barely see through my blurry desperation) and with it the best trainers we ever had. And yes, we did go through a few. That Jenn and Ana work as a team is more than fortunate, you get two for the price of one, even their fee is lower than what the other trainers charged, and you can decide which one is more on your wavelength. And no, your dog has no saying in this, your dog is already perfect. I swear. A little bit of correction is what we want, we get so much more. After only one session my rascal calmed down (I called her confused the first day, I was confused when her aloofness continued on day two), after the second session she only needed a little bit of help to ignore the stink eye another dog gave her, one yank on the leash to remember that insults are below her sophisticated niveau, and she walked next to us as if she had never pulled like a Husky. She has. Every Husky would have bowed to her. I am expecting that she will correct my leash behavior after session three, will point out to me that the little devil in a white fluffy disguise is provocative and deserves a ticking-off, which she will not apply, Ana has taught her what the warning signs were and if I had not paid attention, she will ask. With a reprimanding gaze. Joking aside, in my experience Optimum Dog has chosen their name correctly, they can deliver what they promise. Thanks Ana and Jenn, you rock, you gave me hope and the skills to be a good dog owner, you made me understand that 'speaking dog' is not too hard to learn. And fun.
I've known Cara Davis for over 4 years and consider her a dear friend, reliable worker and someone I can trust given any circumstance. I consider her truthful, honest and understanding, and without reservation I recommend her for any home pet care or house-sitting position. Cara has helped me manage an expansive and rambunctious group of approximately 15 cats/kittens at one point, and in many other capacities such as cleaning, providing transportation and yard care. In the past I have trusted her with my home while we were on vacation, I have trusted her with my children and my pets, and would not hesitate to recommend her. Cara is always is stepping up to help others, or to donate her time and expertise whenever called. I can always count on her doing what she says she will do. She does not disappoint.
As far as I can tell everything went well even though I failed to put the leashes out. Both dogs were happy to see us and did not appear stressed. They both prefer to stay home .
Pierre took care of our kitty while we were on a two week vacation this summer. She needed lots of special care because she had had a stroke shortly before we left. Pierre gave her lots of loving and kept careful notes on how she was doing, and made sure she received her medicine. We couldn't have asked for a more caring person to take care of our pet. He also took care of our mail, kept our house in good shape, and watered our garden. I would recommend Pierre to anyone who is looking for help with pet care or house sitting. He is also a fantastic cook!
Our 3 cats where happy and healthy upon our return. Even the Guinea Pigs seemed to have enjoyed their staycation with Frances checking in on them. Would use again.
Carol at Northwest Dog Retreat is truly exceptional. I adopted a small dog from an animal shelter and was extremely overwhelmed in the beginning when I first began to discover some of his behavioral issues. As a first time dog owner, I was unsure how to deal with his fears and also my own. I knew I was not equipped to train a dog with fears and aggressions on my own and I was thankful to have been able to find Carol at Northwest Dog Retreat. Carol really took the time to listen to me and my concerns, and with her knowledge, help and guidance, Bruno has totally turned around and is more outgoing and expressive than ever. She is caring, intuitive and truly has a special way with animals. She has given me tools, tips and support through out the process and I am so grateful to have met her! Not only does she help with behavioral training in her own home and well as public arenas, she has boarding and the retreat location is beautiful! Plenty of space for dogs to run and play and enjoy. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. Her true passion sets her apart from the others. Thank you Carol!

Hello! I have 10 years of experience training and sitting dogs. I spent eight years in Island County 4-H, and have been training and pet sitting since I was 11. I own three dogs of my own: a Labrador, a Redbone Coonhound, and a German Shepherd. Prices vary depending on the services requested and the number of visits desired. I am sensitive with the animals, yet take the lead of the pack and teach the dogs how to respond to a pack leader. I am experienced with aggressive/fearful dogs and dominant breeds as well. Call or e-mail me to setup a consultation and talk about pricing!
In my whole life, my father run a hunting preserve. I helped him train, board, vaccinate, groom, and raise many dogs over my lifetime. I love dogs and have been around and involved in them so much in my life. I love the relationships owners are able to build with their dogs. I know many basic training and grooming techniques. I am also very active and love to keep dogs active.
I have 10 years of experience as a dog handler and trainer. I train dogs in basic obedience, and am also a walker and do pet care. Paw Pals offers a loving and interactive alternative to a kennel.
