Introduction: I use comprehensive materials to suppliment my teaching,I have experience with many styles of music including Classical (Orchestral,Concert Band,Marching Band, Brass Choirs&small ensembles),Blues,R&B Soul,Funk,Rock,Popular,Folk,Oaxacan/Mariachi,Circus Music,Calypso,Swing&Big Band,19teens-30's era music,Singer/Songwriters,etc.!! I teach the information using several teaching styles as one type does Not fit all,I'm passionate&knowledgeable in teaching,music education,live performance, instrumental music&reading&writing music! Sharring the language of music and helping people develop a firm foundation of music theory&technique to grow&progress from. Being a part of the moments when Students prove to themselves that they CAN do what they thought they couldn't,when students overcome struggle s&challenges by sticking with it,dedicating themselves to practicing until they finally succeed,and being present for a young Student to experience joy from playing their very first song on their own! I have been taking music theory lessons from Heidi for several months now, first to to help me understand what I did with some music I composed and now to help me do better going forward. I always look forward to my lessons. Heidi is knowledgeable, friendly, and open to teaching me per what I need and want to know. As an adult student, I have some say over what we study, and Heidi has been accommodating in every way I could want. I highly recommend Heidi.

Heidi comes to my house and teaches six different instruments. She has helped with clarinet, frenchhorn, tuba, piano, percussion and flute. She is punctual and courteous. She is always positive, but firm during the lessons. She has used her own time outside of lessons to find music my children would be interested in playing to make their practice time more engaging. She brings her own instruments with her so she can play along with the student and show proper technique. Heidi is our first try at lessons and we really feel like we we hit a bullseye with our first shot!

Heidi has provided music lessons (clarinet, sax, voice, recorder and flute) to my children for the past six years. Heidi is a skilled and versatile musician, and has shared her love of music and technical abilities with my children. She is professional, punctual, and an outstanding music teacher. She has also become a friend to our family! She encourages my children and motivates them in music and in life! She goes above and beyond, challenging them with new pieces and goals. Every year she and my daughter organize a family recital which has become a holiday tradition. I highly recommend Heidi!

I had a musical project for writing and arranging on very short notice and a very demanding client.She improved the project and added 4 brass and woodwind that sealed the deal.On time, more than expected and done with confidence and grace.A joy to work with you.Several other project have run without a hitch.I will keep you as my first choice and she makes me look good.Bravo!!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
If I have to travel to Renton,Issaqua,Granite Falls,Arlington,Marysville than I charge extra for travel time&gas costs. Usually $5-15,which is fair&competative. I usually charge $35 per half hour lesson in your home,which the going rate in a Studio you travel to is from $30-50 per half hour lesson. My rates are not only fair&competative,but it is a fantastic deal beacause I provide more that instruction on how to play any given instrument. I provide a music education on top of mentorship,support,encouragment and inspiration!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes,I attend professional Clinics,music lessons on several instruments,member of music education organizations (WMEA,MENC,TED), professional performance opportunities,recording sessions,read online music technology&music development articles&lectures,read music history(western music&world music),african american music history&music theory referance books&magazine articles,and I learn from my Students every day!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I knew I wanted to teach while in Middle School. I always enjoyed and excelled in music and sports! I believe that music education can provide so much to any student who participates,such as healing properties,learning discipline,mathmatical skills,right&left brain activity,team work,a safe way to express ones self,building self esteem,hand eye coordination,muscle development/muscle memory,bi-lingual/music as a language,and much more.
