Cassandra Music

Introduction: Since 1973, Phil Hansen has been a full-time music teacher who has taught at two high schools, two colleges, and several music stores. He currently teaches private lessons on , banjo, guitar, mandolin, and bass at Green River Music in Auburn on Mondays and Tuesdays; Mills Music in Issaquah on Thursdays;vMills Music in Redmond on Fridays; and Cassandra Music in Enumclaw on Wednesdays. His Wednesday evenings are devoted to classroom work at the Enumclaw extension of Green River Community College. In addition, Phil has written five published mandolin and guitar manuals, including several assorted articles on guitar styles and techniques. He is currently working on four additional volumes that specialize on bass techniques, finger-style guitar, and bluegrass guitar. For many years, Phil has been performing as a guitarist and vocalist in the greater Puget Sound Region. His main acoustic guitar interest centers on the Contemporary Flatpicking and Contemporary Fingerstyle arenas. His entertaining, informative and fun shows consist of an eclectic mix of ragtime/blues, ragtime, blues, jazz standards, pop, and folk material with vocal performance. He also performs as a solo, with a contemporary Gospel band Gypsy Joe, or with the progressive bluegrass band Stillwater Hill. As a performing musician since mid-60s, Phil has already performed solo and has worked on several venues with many groups. He performed with Cassandra (1977-1986), Phil & Kathye (1986-1992), Squirrel Heads and Gravy (1996-2005), and he currently plays as a solo and also with the VZ Valley Boys. He has been an orchestra pit musician for six musicals and has played with the East Side Gospel Orchestra from 1989-1992. He has performed in several state and county fairs, festivals, street fairs, restaurants, weddings, coffee houses, parties, and even business meetings.
