- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My usual hourly fee range is $20 - $25 for walking or drop in care, or Medical Transportation. My starting fee for House/Pet sitting starts at $50 per day for each day I am at your home. (Not calculated by # of hours) The price is adjusted by the number of pets or services required. Examples: 1 dog = $50/day; 1 dog & 1 cat = $50/day unless there are special needs. 2 dogs= $60/day, etc. *Special needs or care or need for more walking/day will be negotiated *If client is more than 5 miles away, we may negotiate for gas $. If there are multiple animals my fee varies.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I meet with the client the first time at no charge to see if we are a match both for the human and pets. If there is a second visit before actual services start I ask for compensation for travel and time. Usually, the amount of compensation is decided mutually by the client and myself.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
In the early 1990's I was an adult returning student getting my college degree and was working on campus. One of the women I worked with asked me if I could take care of their sweet dog while they were away. I did house & pet sitting throughout my college days. I continued on a smaller scale while I was working and when I retired at 60, I concentrated on building my caring services so that I am now semi-retired. I love my work! I love my lifestyle and treasure my clients, human and pets.
