We unfortunately only attended one of Bryan's drum lessons .(only because my four year old wouldn't practice). Bryan was great! He even had on Aladdin, upon us arriving which made my daughter extra comfortable. It was a great ice breaker for them to talk about. I would absolutely recommend Bryan to anyone needing drum lessons ages kids to adult.
I was looking for someone to help me improve my singing for my amateur theater hobby. And I found him. Jeremy is a kind, patient, and knowledgeable teacher and I would highly recommend him. I didn't realize how expensive voice lessons were going to be but now, I don't even care with how impressed I am. He can tell just by listening to me sing, what is going on internally that is causing issues, whether its pitch, tone, support, breath, mouth shape, you name it. He highly emphasizes technique which its exactly what I wanted from a teacher. My other teachers were more concerned with mastering an audition piece. Jeremy works technique through exercises and challenging pieces which will make you better at singing any song. And not just two songs that will get you the part. I have had 4 lessons and right now its a lot of deconstructing bad singing habits, which basically feels like learning how to walk because I've never sung properly before. I'm excited to see where this goes!
Jordan is friendly, professional, and supportive. She uses music that I'm passionate about in order to teach the skills and fine tune technique. If you are thinking about singing for the first time or hoping to expand your present skills, Jordan is the right teacher for you!
Minami has provided vocal and piano lessons for our tween daughter for several months. My daughter loves the instruction that Minami gives- a great combo of fun and learning. She is always positive and considerate with her feedback to the student while producing the results needed. I love the convenience of her home lessons as well as her prompt communication.
Having been into singing for around 5 years now, I've found out about a market of products created for the purpose of studying the art of singing at home. Being a serious student of singing, I decided to invest in one of these programs to supplement my lessons. Singing Success got me absolutely nowhere. After a couple of weeks, I completely stopped using it, because there was no direction. Around 2 years later, I decided to try out CVT. It offers a book, along with recorded exercises. It was much better, but it still felt like something was missing. How was I to make sure I was doing everything right? The forum was dead. I had been studying singing for a few years, and this was something still on my mind; not having somebody ensure you were practicing the program properly. I cannot imagine how much less confident an absolute beginner might have felt, facing the same thing. Around a year later, I stumbled upon The Modern Vocalist Forum. Observed Robert Lunte provide very detailed feedback on several submissions by aspiring singers. I was pretty impressed with how things were broken down. I had already known about The Four Pillars of Singing, for a while, and I thought it wasn't for me. After seeing an explanation on how it could be used to transform your head voice into something that sounded strong, while still retaining full use of falsetto, I was intrigued enough to take the plunge. After a few months of ownership, I have absolutely no regrets. The Four Pillars of Singing is the only system out there that offers a comprehensive book, video tutorials, and an active forum, where anything can be clarified by the man himself. You can tell this is something made by somebody who cares. It's a completely foolproof method. Whether you're an absolute beginner who desperately needs guidance, or like me, you've been at it a little while, and you're looking for a way to take things to the next level. There's enough depth and science involved in this that even a voice expert can appreciate this system. As an owner of The Four Pillars of Singing, you're not just the owner of a vocal program that you can use at home; you are a student of TVS methodology, and you will no longer be left to figure things out on your own. It's the closest thing to having a voice coach without actually signing up for lessons. It's all laid out right in front of you, and there's nothing left to do but practice.
Scott is a true mentor, and working with him shaped not just my technical vocal skills but my identity as a performer in musical theatre and straight theatre. He expanded my belt range significantly, in ways that were healthy for my vocal chords, and he helped me develop a mixed belt that let me move throughout my vocal range with greater finesse and control. Lessons with Scott are focused and fun, a perfect mix of overall technique and specific, practical work on songs for example, he often helped me prepare for auditions, and we would then work together to shape the vocal possibilities of each role I was cast in. His deep knowledge of the range and history of musical theatre is impressive and very helpful; I also learned so much from him about the context and history of what I was singing in my lessons, and he is able to suggest great audition songs! Most importantly, Scott connects with and cares about each of his students as individuals, and as performers and vocalists, and this shows in the growth he elicits from them, creating a supportive environment with high expectations accompanied by a caring guidance that makes it possible meet those expectations (provided of course, that you hold up your end of the bargain and practice daily!).
My experience studying with Dr. Liz Frazer was absolutely incredible! She is extremely knowledgeable of the the voice and how it works, and I have always loved and appreciated her creativity when it comes to exercises for developing and building a voice. She genuinely cares about each and everyone of her students, and she wants to see them grow and be successful. I've seen her work with people at all different levels and stages of their voice, and her commitment to the individual success of each student was an amazing and inspiring thing to witness! I hadn't had much experience singing when I started studying with Dr. Frazer, but she invested in me, believed in me, challenged me vocally, and helped me to build up the confidence I needed! Thanks to my time with Dr. Frazer, I am now continuing my education in vocal performance while working professionally as a singer. No matter what your end goal is for taking voice lessons, if you have the opportunity to study with Dr. Frazer, do it!
Started taking singing lessons with Maddy as a complete beginner. She's been so kind, patient, and supportive and is wonderful about explaining how the voice works. I highly recommend her!!
I have been studying Vocals with Sami for 2 years. He is an amazing instructor, he is patient, kind and a blast to learn with. Every lesson is designed for me based on my progression from the week prior. He is always available to speak even when I don't have lessons to offer additional help. Thank you Sami for helping me become a better singer.
We just started our daughter's lessons but Cayce is a well organized and professional who loves her craft. She has been very helpful in answering our questions and determining our short and long-term goals. Her website is very well done and a great aid in tracking our daughter's progress, lessons, and for communication.
Vannessa has been providing voice lessons to my 10 year old for a month now and the student is enjoying them immensly.
Friendly and knowledgable, Larry was my piano teacher for over 5 years, but together we dabbled in voice, sax, guitar, and even a bit of drums. He tailored lessons to exactly what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it. He can stick to the standard lesson plans, or adapt them to exactly what you want to learn. He's a good guy and a good teacher who gave me all the foundations to be confident in just about every aspect of music.
I've been taking voice lessons with Christine for a few months now, and it's been an amazing experience. I'm a total and absolute beginner, but Christine knows perfectly well how to teach beginners (or people at any level for that matter, since she has a degree in music education). In a few months we've already seen noticeable improvement in my voice. Christine's been helping me develop the correct vocal technique right from the beginning, so that I don't develop bad habits that are difficult to correct later. She is also an outstanding teacher - she immediately notices/hears my mistakes, no matter how subtle, and corrects me right away. Or if she notices me getting tired, she stops the lesson right away, even if I don't notice it myself. These are very important things for a beginner in my opinion. She also shows me many tricks (both physical and psychological) that I can use to make my voice do the right thing. And she has a variety of exercises that help with different aspects of developing your voice. Finally, she's a great person to work with - very cool-minded, always smiling/laughing/joking, never yells or gets angry, calmly moves on to something else if one thing doesn't work, and has the rare and wonderful ability to point out mistakes without making you feel bad. She is also a very good listener - always willing to answer my questions/comments. At a personal level, she's a fun and interesting person to get to know, and talk to. I think everybody can benefit from voice lessons, even if you think you're no good at singing. And I think Christine is perfect for the job. I highly recommend her!
Anna is very knowledgable and explains techniques clearly. We have a lot of fun at our lessons, but at the same time quite a bit of progress is made.
I have been taking voice lessons with Heather since the end of March, and it has been a wonderful experience. Heather is a dedicated teacher who is always considering the way I learn and trying to incorporate new approaches to help me gain mastery. She provides lots of extra support outside of lessons as well if I have questions. The notes she provides after each lesson as well as the warm up videos and backing tracks are so helpful with my practice. Be prepared to work hard if you want to make a difference in your singing. Heather has helped me knock down unrealistic expectations (everyone on the radio is "airbrushed", people!) while building up a strong foundation for proper technique. Singing is not easy, but with practice, hard work, and an excellent teacher like Heather you can see a lot of rewarding progress. I look forward to my lesson every week and am so glad I hired Heather.
Shana is a great teacher. Very good at explaining placement of breath which can be hard for a dancer such as myself. I cannot wait for my second lesson with Shana. She has a lot of knowledge to offer.
Love this school! It's been great experience for both of my kids. We've been taking piano and guitar lessons for last 4 years
My experience with Merlyn's Music Studio was absolutely amazing. Merlyn Ahern is a jewel, and hands down the best music instructor that I've ever trained with. She has an impeccable ear for music, and she never fails to bring out the best in each of her students. I couldn't have imagined training with anyone other than her to prepare myself for my performance in the 2015 Miss Black USA Scholorship Pageant. Not only did I receive a standing ovation from the audience for my talent performance, I also received a score of 136 out of 140 from the judges!!! I couldn't have done it without her. She is the BEST!!! -De'Vaughnn Williams, Miss. Black Washington USA 2015 & 2016.
